To be fair, I hate Avaturd more, I just use it as shorthand...each to their own....

Avaturd is a close second for me.

Another small mixed bag today, on a movie binge right now. A few more tonight after these.

The Opening Of Misty Beethoven (1975) - I know what you are thinking.....why have I watched this? Well I thought I'd start on some Metzger films by viewing perhaps his most infamous film on Blu Ray. Despite it's 'stroke flick' veneer this is a truly odd, aloof adult comedy with some genuinely witty banter between the cast and some surprisingly lush cinematography. Strange to say this about what is essentially pornography, but actually a good film in and of itself.

The Challenge (1982) - Sorely overlooked John Frankenheimer action film with the occasional bout of out of left field gore. Really baffled as to how this has no official DVD. More proof Scott Glenn is a badass, plus who does not want to see a film where Toshiro Mifune takes on the Yakuza?

Happy Viewing.

Went to an interview for william hill this morning...

"oh it was incorrectly adverstised, were only offering a temporary contract due to maternity leave"

In spite of being advertised as full time and permenant (even though 31 hours is permanant in WH ) Still i'll take it if It's offered, trouble is i'm not a gambler and i've only been in bookies a handful of times in my life....

No phone call from argos (6 hour contract, but I could get up to TWENTY hours...!) so Don't think i've got that either, just an interview with natwest tommorrow, bit of a commute for a 17.5 hour job but I need the damn work.

Well BLOCKBUSTERS has found a buyer, so the remaining stores look to be staying for the forseeable future, if nothing materialises i'll try and secure something there, at least until the supermarkets start hiring..

the only other option is self employed, try and turn my amazon shop proffessional.... it's doable, wouldent mind having a shop and doing second hand dvds blu-rays and CDS from there, trouble is the rents are silly!

Watched Argents Blu of DJANGO... dosent look correctly framed to me but I had a lot less problems with the PQ than some, looked decent on my set up. Still love the film, very bleak and nihlistic, though not as much as the great silence. The wet and muddy ramshackle set for the town was a great idea imo and looked a lot different than a lot of previous westerns.

Rant over. I'm off to watch Bad Taste.

There isn't a word Hawk. Its either "a misconception" or nothing.

lesson over.

I like the CGI attack on Pearl Harbour its great eye candy, but the film overall isn't great, it was also clear that Affleck was no leading man.

Why's the 'what films have you purchased' thread been locked? Did it reach a limit? (New thread started I see)

Anyway, in response to Demdike about The Descent 2, another opinion - don't do it! It cheapens the original. It's quite poor, and has some shitty (literally - crapping monsters) humour. It's just a cheap, DTV cash-in, with little merit. And I noticed a really obvious continuity error first time I watched it.

Now, now kiddies don't start a fight over Pearl Harbour otherwise they'll make a terrible, factually misinformed film about it

And I'd watch it!
