Roger Corman's Bucket of Blood

I thoroughly enjoyed this effort from Corman. It's not great but I love the whole flaky "Beatnik" scene, it makes you want to write some free form poetry, or summink!

Watched MONSTURD last night.

Looking at it objectively its a wee bit poo (apologies for the bad pun) but somehow ends up being more enjoyable than it has a right to be, probably because it refuses to take itself seriously.

Do you think?

I have got to see this one, it's going straight to my Watchlist along with, Zombie Ass: Toilet of the Dead (2011)!

Hey Rik would you say it is worth me keeping it in the wrapper and selling it on?

It's not a particularly bad film, just a bit boring, worth a watch at least, but it doesn't really have any rewatchable value for me

I really enjoyed this film. One of the best i've seen from the last few years. The film is undeniably derivative making me think of The Wicker Man and Hostel Part 2 among others with echoes of Bava's Mask of Satan thrown in.

After a slowish start which enables us to get to know the four journalists the pace picks up with the discovery of a strange mist on the outskirts of the village, and within it a grotesque statue. These scenes are beautifully done and an eerie atmosphere at once bleeds from the screen.

The Shrine is classified 18 which had me mystified throughout until we arrived at the climax when all hell breaks loose and the bloody sfx come into their own. The creature design is thankfully all prosthetic and the devillish dudes look really effective.

Highly recommended.

Thanks to this review I bumped this up to high priority on Lovefilm, watched it today and really enjoyed it, definitely one to add to the collection

I did, like you said it does start a little slow, but the climax is well executed, certainly a better watch than 247°F that I watched before it

I first saw this as a teenager after my first ride on a motor cycle, two loves were born in me that day. I don't ride bikes any more but I do watch Mel Brookes Movies quite often.

If there is anyone out there who has never seen "Young Frankenstein," and I'm not sure there is, then my advice is to sit in a quiet darkened room watch the film and see if you can make it all the way through without laughing. NO, DON'T, I've just thought on and you may cause an internal injury! Go ahead laugh, it's good for you! Trust me, I'm an ex-submariner.
