Anyway,it seems I watched the shorter version as I noticed the other version is longer.

Maybe I should watch the extended director's cut as well before doing a short review?
I watched it on Sky Movies and I assume it was the theatrical cut. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna sit through another version again to find out. I've never had a film that so bored me and yet frustrated me in such equal measure.

Curse of Chucky.

chucky's back and his back in style. Brilliant return to form has to rank up their as the best one since the first, gone is the comedy of the later movies, we do have some comedy moments put its very dark. Some fantastic kills and gore, well acted and shot, the flashback scene near the end is brilliantly done. Also some great jump moments. We don't hear chucky speak as Charles Lee ray till nearly half way into the movie, but that doesn't stop him being menacing and scary. Stick around till the end of the credits! 8.5/10

Anyone seen a film called mirror mirror horror with Karen black not the other one, think of watching that or cat in a brain.

Watched Schoolgirls in Chains (1973)

I would describe this as a Mother's Day (1980) and Psycho (1960) exploitation hybrid. Certainly not the best exp film I have ever seen but the, actually, quite good performances make it a lot better than the worst the genre has to offer.

Overall a 6/10.

I like this film, although "College Graduates In Chains" thankfully does a bit more justice to it content-wise. It still manages to be quite a cold, sleazy flick however - as you say, shades of 'Psycho', 'Mother's Day', those kind of films.

You title is probably more accurate but I presumed that the schoolgirls was a reference to how one of the 'boys' likes to play with the girls. I get what you say about it having a cold atmosphere - I think this is reflected well by the cold nature of the two boys behaviour and characters. The actors deserve praise for portraying this so well. I even felt a little sympathy for Bob at the end because to an extent as he didn't know what he was doing was wrong due to his mental health.

I watched a pretty worn VHS rip of it however so the quality of the version you saw might have provided a better representation of the film.

Read the Graphic novels of LXG, they'll blow your nuts off and, compared to the kiddie friendly movie, they're positively pornographic. MMM! Tasty!

The LXG film made Sean Connery give up acting. Seriously, he never made another film after it. I can't really blame him, it was dreadful. The Hughes brothers may have mangled Alan Moore's FROM HELL beyond all recognition but it was at least kind of entertaining and well made in its own way. LXG is just a mess.

Something gets under the skin as the movie progresses and the darker subtext becomes more apparent, and eventually I was drawn in a lot more than I thought I would be. I'll have to check it out again because I was left feeling that some elements didn't quite add up, but ultimately I thought it was good.
Is this is the original, La Casa Muda, Frankie? I've not seen the remake, but I gather it's pretty much the same (and Elizabeth Olsen is a terrific actress).

Anyway, I quite liked it too. It's nitpicking, but I remember someone asking the makers of the media used used if it was possible to shoot continuously for that length of time and they said no - so it's widely assumed the fade to black moments hide the edits. Unless of course you did watch the remake in which case it's possible it IS a single shot.

It's a neat gimmick, but unnecessary in the long run as it didn't add anything to the film particularly. For single shot, technical genius, one need look no further than the sublime and sweeping Russian Ark from Aleksandr Sokurov.

Yes, the original. I haven't seen the remake, either.
Yeah, the whole 'one shot' thing was a bit pointless in a way, besides being momentarily impressive. Maybe it added a degree of urgency. Not much else, though.
