Something gets under the skin as the movie progresses and the darker subtext becomes more apparent, and eventually I was drawn in a lot more than I thought I would be. I'll have to check it out again because I was left feeling that some elements didn't quite add up, but ultimately I thought it was good. | Is this is the original, La Casa Muda, Frankie? I've not seen the remake, but I gather it's pretty much the same (and Elizabeth Olsen is a terrific actress).
Anyway, I quite liked it too. It's nitpicking, but I remember someone asking the makers of the media used used if it was possible to shoot continuously for that length of time and they said no - so it's widely assumed the fade to black moments hide the edits. Unless of course you did watch the remake in which case it's possible it IS a single shot.
It's a neat gimmick, but unnecessary in the long run as it didn't add anything to the film particularly. For single shot, technical genius, one need look no further than the sublime and sweeping Russian Ark from Aleksandr Sokurov.
