Ok but that's down to Vincent price. 5.5/10

Track of the moon beast

Story of a man who hit by a meteorite transforms into a lizard monsters that goes on a killing spree, basically a werewolf movie with a lizard instead of a wolf. 6-10

The ghost
A nice little gothic chiller, about a window and her lover who kill her husband for his money, the women begins to believe that her husband has come back from beyond for revenge, horror queen Barbara Steele stars. 7/10

Jesse James meets Frankensteins daughter
The title says it all, part western part mad scientist movie, for some reason I enjoyed it more than I should of. 7/10

Dr tarrs torture dungeon

This was a real gem, with a fantastic atmosphere and some good acting. For the small budget it must of had it has some fantastic set pieces, very bizarre with such characters as the chicken man , dr tarrs fantastic over the top performance and a dance routine. Well worth checking out. Will have to see if the director has done anything else. 8/10

House of the dead aka alien zone

A man ends up getting lost and ends up at a funeral home were the owner tells him the story of four corpse in the home. An ok anthology movie. 6.5/10

Slashed dreams

Even though Robert Englund is in this movie I only last about 20 mins because of the awful acting and even more awful music.

Horrors of spider island
A plane with a group of dances and there manger crash lands on Island where the manger transforms into a half man half spider and goes after the dancers. 5/10

The legend of Bigfoot

Documentary about Ivan Marx who has spend years of his life looking for and tracking big foot. 5/10

Drive in massacre

Think most people have heard or seen of these. 6/10




Crystal lake memories (disc one)

Very informative and interesting documentary and Corey Feldman is a very good narrator, interesting to see how different some of the films could of been if paramount and The censors had not had their way. 9/10

Following on from the previous weeks Hammer fest this past week I decided to go Amicus!

At the Earth's Core (1976) My Dad took me to see this when it originally came out and I remember that I wasn't too impressed with the effects! Still aren't but its a nice nostalgia piece!

And Now the Screaming Starts (1973) Very Hammer like, not a bad movie.

The Terrornauts (1967) WTF! What were Amicus thinking! Three Scientists, Charles Hawtrey and a char lady save planet Earth from an alien invasion! The movies poster offered 'Virgin Sacrifices' by a muscular green skinned alien!

Dr Who and the Daleks (1965) "Exterminate!"

Daleks Invasion Earth 2150ad (1966)

The Land That Time Forgot (1975) Bloody awful effects but you know....I liked it!

The People That Time Forgot (1977) Slightly better in the effects but even Dana Gillespie cant help with this one!

The Vault of Horror (1973) An anthology which I haven't seen in years and I enjoyed it more for that reason.

The Mind of Mr Soames (1970) Another one that I haven't seen in years...and wont again for a long while! It bored me I ended up making paper aeroplanes and throwing them at my teenage son whilst he was watching 'Ghost Protocol' on the portable DVD player! (none of my sprogs share my love of movies! They consider my Shameless and Arrow collection as porn! God knows what they think of my Tinto Brass boxset!

Anyway next week its the turn of Tigon

RED:WEREWOLF HUNTER. Time wasting dwaddle from the SyFy channel.

SUMMER SCHOOL. A very charismatic Mark Harmon plays a beach bum teacher in this likeable 80s comedy. Features clips from TCM, comedy gore and the usual bad kids/teacher make good. A very enjoyable way to pass a Sunday afternoon.

SLUGS. Basically JAWS with slugs but also a bizarre twist on SHIVERS. In SHIVERS slug like creatures turn people into sex maniacs, in SLUGS ever f*cker is f*cking non-stop until eaten by slugs. I'm not sure what the message is behind this but I found the naked woman rolling around in blood and slugs a bit of a turn on.

HARD BREAKERS. Strange, dumb and at times very funny comedy about two girls who discover that if they knock out and kidnap men they become better lovers on awaking. It misfires all over the place but the central idea is so twisted I liked it. You just don't get that many films with the main plot being the kidnapping and rape of men. F*ck yeah.

How can you review Slugs and not mention this?

Joe - how could the director of 'Karate Kid' also be responsible for this bleak commentary on 60s/70s counter-culture? Peter Doyle completely owns this film and the ending is genuinely shocking.

Firstly I had to watch this in shifts...though perhaps that says more about my attention span than anything else. Initially I found it pretentious and self-indulgent and still do to a degree but there's an abundance of creativity on display hear on all fronts. It really has to be seen to be believed and can be utterly hypnotic with crazy visuals morphing from one shape/form/time to another, genuine jump out of your seat moments and at times abject grief and misery captured far too well! Very cool way of getting round the censors (classifiers?) in some of the sex scenes too which actually made them a lot less dull than they would've been without this effect (won't spoil it for anyone by saying anymore).

Saw this (extended) at the cinema with Gaspar Noe in attendance. That was a trip. Got to meet him after too.

Personally I loved it. I picked up the German BD, but haven't watched it yet.
