Lost Continent from Hammer (1968), and Takashi Miike's savage "Lesson in Evil". Lesson was horribly well made and disturbing; while LC was enjoyable and harmless, all at once. Two movies at opposite ends of the viewing spectrum.

I quite like Sinister (and the first Insidious); it's one of the better recent American horror films, and not one which relies on the 'cattle prod' jumps. It's been a while since I saw it, but it reminded me quite a bit of The Shining in the way the film centres around the unravelling of the paternal figure.

I also really like Oculus, It Follows and The Babadook – they are (particularly the latter) are much better than the previous two I mentioned.

the-doll-movie-poster-1986-1020199149.jpg

A little girl called Judy is travelling with her rather nasty father and step mother when out of nowhere a storm hits and their car is trapped in the mud of a small dirt road they have stumbled upon. Luckily for them there is an old house near by that looks vacant. Desperate for to get shelter from they storm they break in through the basement after they get no reply from the front door. Once inside they find the owners of the house an old couple Gabriel and Hilary Hartwicke . When they explain their circumstances and why the broke in the couple invite them to dinner and to stay until the storm passes. At dinner Gabriel tells Judy he is a toy maker and he finds it strange that a young girl does not carry a doll. Explaining that she lost her best friend Teddy Gabriel gives her his special Punch doll to look after until she leaves. With a loud crash the doors swing open and three more weary travellers appear that seem to have suffered the same faith as Judy and her family and are forced to enter the house uninvited to escape the storm.

Once everyone has been introduced things start to move quite quickly with the dolls coming to life and stalking the halls of the house. The only people that are safe from the attack of the dolls are children and those adults that are children at heart. At first Judy is the only person that sees the dolls moving but no one will believe her until it is too late for them.

Dolls is a pretty entertaining film and i really love the FX used for the dolls each one goes from lifeless to pure evil looking in a second and their bloodshot eyes roaming around in their sockets really adds great effect. For all the fun i got from Dolls it was the characters i found hard to stomach especially the two "punk rock" British girls they were so stereotypical it was ridiculous. I hate to say it but i also found the kid very annoying. The only character i liked was Ralph. While not a great film it was a bit of silly fun.

5/10

Since when did porn stop becoming porn and making some of these torture porn films look like a pg

Ive seen some weird and random stuff but recently some of it looks vicous and the women dont even look like their enjoying it, they look like their victim reactions in some of these rape films.

Eg one women was suspended and tied by all arm legs going north/east/west/south she was turned upside down with rope tied round her breast and pulled down by heavy weights.
She had some sort of dentist device to keep her mouth wide open while two blokes are sticking their dicks in her mouth at same time.
Another bloke whacking her across back of head pretty hard.
One bloke literaly got most of arm stuck up her backside
While another vicously showing a bog brush up her vagina
Quite recently i tried to put some porn on because im a single bloke and need to relive myself like you do
But cant seem to find normal or simple porn anymore and lots of this kind of stuff keeps cropping up and i cant well you know to this... Some people might but i rather watch a women masturbate and even that hard to come across without it looking nasty.

Probably ny favourite Stuart Gordon film. I loved Dolls when i was younger and hadn't seen it for 20odd years til last year and still adored it.

Jonestown: Paradise Lost

Only knew the broad strokes of this horrendous episode before watching this docudrama - very interesting and saddening. Found it remarkable how composed and apparently well adjusted Stephan Jones is or at least came across considering the events of his formative years and the ongoing psychological and social implications that having Jim Jones as a dad must have! Currently on Netflix. Recommended.

Watched the Argento cut of DAWN OF THE DEAD last night for the first time in years.
Isn't a patch on the Romero cut IMO.

Watched my NOTLD steelbook BD yesterday.Obviously just a repackage of the original release, but the steely is a cracker.

Stephen-these strange looking black bars appeared either side of the screen.....
