X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) - 2/5

I am SO disappointed with this film. It felt like Bryan Singer wasn't taking it very seriously - his directing in Days of Future Past was really good but in this one the tone is off and the performances are wooden. The character Apocalypse is generally fairly embarrassing apart from one reasonably creepy bit. It feels really underwritten, and I don't understand why Stryker has Wolverine in this film when at the end of DoFP it was Mystique pretending to be him, unless I dreamt that.

This is Last Stand level as far as I'm concerned, I feel depressed

The trailers I've seen have all looked rather underwhelming. I've been hoping they just weren't very representative of the finished product.

Yeah, I was staying positive and looking forward to it since all of Singer's other X-Men films have been great, but unfortunately it's exactly what it looks like from the trailers.

I was never blown away with X2 like many were. Preferred the original.

I always preferred the first one too, but the sequel was certainly a good one. Days of Future Past is the best in the series though for me, so to go from that to this... oh dear.

It disappointed me that they jettisoned the whole cast from the first three films for younger actors. Why?

Jennifer Lawrence is a waste of time compared to Rebecca Romijn and the least said about Jean Grey the better.

No wonder Hugh Jackman's giving up with it all.

I thought Jennifer Lawrence was really good in Days of Future Past, but it wasn't a good love to have two elderly white men (even if they are legendary actors) in a prominent roles and Sophie Turner playing Jean Grey without any sign of Rebecca Romijn – not even in a minor or cameo role.

He's had enough of the intense workout routine he has to do for each film bless him, it is crazy that he's been doing it since 1999.
