Seems they are all under 80 mins and my version isn't listed either so i'm still none the wiser.

It's not the same as the early Arrow version as the subs definitely aren't burned in.

It's shite anyway so i won't be seeking out another release of it.

Jason and The Argonauts.

To reclaim his kingdom and bring peace Jason(Todd Armstrong) gathers together a crew of the strongest chaps in Greece and sets sail to the far ends of the earth to find the magical Golden fleece. and has to face many strange creatures on his quest that include a big bronze man, two winged harpies, a Hydra and a bunch of nasty skeletons.

despite being made in 1963 the effects in this film still look pretty spectacular by Ray harryhausen and i much prefer them to all this CGI rubbish which doesnt look realistic at all in my opinion. The skeleton sequence in particular is very good indeed and they look very creepy specimims with there swords and shields.

Acting is also pretty good overall too, even if Todd Armstrong is a little wooden. Honor blackman as the goddess Hera gives a good turn though, as does the chap Nigel Green from Countess dracula as Hercules.

Very good escapist entertainment indeed and a good recommended film for adventure and fantasy fans. 80 out of 100.

Peeping Tom (1960)

Michael Powell's tale of a psychopathic young man who photographs the women he murders with a 16mm camera.

Although not quite as unrelenting as i'd hoped it might be - sexual perversion is shown via metaphor and symbolism and there is no actual on screen violence or blood and the whole is rather implicit instead of explicit - this is still a very good film which i imagine becomes better with subsequent viewings.

Performances are uniformly excellent especially Carl Boehm in the lead role and Moira Shearer as his second victim whose dance routine certainly allows for sexual suggestion prior to her murder with the viewer practically there with Boehm in the studio. It's this voyeuristic viewpoint that is forced upon the viewer that so appalled critics at the time.

Director Michael Powell's career, once seen as the leading light of the British film industry, was effectively killed off by Peeping Tom, a film hated by critics at the time and it's only in later years that it's been seen by the likes of Martin Scorsese as a classic in it's own right.

Hideous! (1997)

A group of rival collectors of the preserved corpses of severely deformed freakish human beings and the FBI agents that are investigating them must battle against some of their collections which aren't as dead as they seem...

Daft yet enjoyable feature from Full Moon productions. You should know what you are getting just from that sentence. It's acting borders on parody but the grotesque, slimy, sleazy gloopiness ensures it's a bit of fun. To be honest i knew i was going to like it early on as a dude is robbed at the side of the road by a topless girl wearing a gorilla mask.

Logan's Run.

Set in 2274. After some type of holocaust all the remaining people now live in a big city covered by a dome that's run by a super computer. Nobody has to work and every pleasure is catered for. but the only snag is that when you reach the age of 30 you have to be euthanised at the carousrel were you are supposed to get renewed. some people don't believe it though and bugger off to find some place on the outside called Sanctuary. but get chased by the police called the sandmen and killed if caught. Logan 5(michael york) is one of the top sandmen and is given a undercover job of becoming a runner to find were sanctuary is. but begins to question his mission when he discovers the truth with his fellow runner Jessica 6(the gorgeous jenny agutter).

A very enjoyable sci fi film indeed that is certainly entertaining. okay some of the effects do look a bit dated but at least you can appreciate all the effort that went into it without all the reliance on CGI nowadays. it is nicely shot, colourful with great sets and costumes, especially Miss Agutter's , and good music too. Yes there is some campness, the box robot in particular
covered in tin foil. but it's well acted, with great chemistry between Jenny Agutter and Michael York. and co-stars Richard jordan who plays fellow sandman Francis is very good too as is Peter Ustinov as the old man. Farrah fawcett also gets a cameo as well, but i much prefer Miss Agutter to her to be honest

Great fun 81 out of 100.

Let's start with the positives the few that there are, Hugo Weaving , it looks nice with good steampunk feel. A couple of interesting characters Jihae and Strike and that's about it. Now for the bad points the lead actress has zero charisma and acting ability to the point you don't care, it's in serious need of editing the film could of been cut by a good 30 minutes as we had a lot of pointless overlong scenes and even though it was 2 hours it felt more like 3,never a good sign when you keep checking the time. Also it rips of star wars a lot we have a evil empire with a super weapon and a bunch of "rebels" out to stop them as well as a plot device stolen from empire strikes back. 4.8/10

The toolbox murders.

a maniac in a ski mask is killing off all the immoral women in a apartment block with various tools including a power drill, claw hammer, chisel and nail gun. however, he spares his youngest victim and takes her prisoner instead as a replacement for his dead daughter.

one of those sleazy 70's movies in a similar tradition of don't Go in The House and Maniac. Starting off quite nasty indeed in the first 20 minutes or so with some very brutal kills , especially with porn star Kelly nicols brutal death by nail gun after the killer finds her indulging in a bit of the old self lady loving in the bath.
but it slows down considerably after that and is more of a psychological drama with the maniac and the young hostage who he thinks is his pure and virginal daughter.

acting is a bit of a mixed bag. but cameron mitchell gives a very good performance and Pamelyn ferdin as the young girl. kelly nicols is also good too in her short but effective murder scene.

Certainly worth a watch, even if it does lose it's way a bit. and a good soundtrack too if you love country music. 70 out of 100.
