![]() Elvira: Mistress Of The Dark Movie TV Presenter Elvira travels to Massachusetts to claim an inheritance from her Aunt however she incurs the ire from the local morality brigade and has also got to contend with someone who wants a book of magic spells that she has also inherited. I had heard of this film when it 1st came out but was never on my radar until now but this is such a fun film, full of funny and witty one-liners, this also shows that you can dress sexily and still be a strong independent woman. Birds Of Prey Margot Robbie shines as she reprises her role from Suicide Squad as Harley Quinn. Having broken up from The Joker, she is on the hunt for a teenage pickpocket who stole a diamond from Ewan McGregor, who gleefully hams it up. It's not bad but loses it's way near the end. |

![]() Body Heat (1981, Lawrence Kasdan) Film noir in colour? Well, it's all there, the femme fatale, the doltish lead, the desire for money at all costs etc etc. A lawyer falls for a sultry blonde. She is already hitched etc. Whilst it is no Double Indemnity, it moves along at a decent pace. Problem Child (1990, Dennis Dugan) Very silly. A couple who can't have kids decide to adopt. Unfortunately they pick Junior, who has a propensity for chaos. Surprisingly cheeky in places. Really only watched it for Ritter who sadly only gets to look exasperated for most of it ... Primal Cage and a jaguar on a boat? Somewhat silly actioner (isn't he getting too old for these?) The CGI is awful, but the villain is a lot of fun so this balances out more or less. Famke Jansen must need the money. Deadly Prey (1987, David A Prior) A hoot, a loving husband is kidnapped putting the bins out, so wifie has to call on daddy's help (Cameron Mitchell). Not enough?? Okay then, mercenaries train using live bait so to speak, but they have picked the wrong guy this time it seems. Hilariously bad. The lead seemed more suited for some beach romp, the stunts are somewhat threadbare and the dialogue, lawdy. I'd heard a lot about this one over the years and it did not disappoint ![]()

![]() Casino (1995) ★★★★½ Quote:
It's a film which I enjoy the more I watch it, and each viewing also brings a greater appreciation of the skill of everyone involved in its production, from Scorsese to all the actors, and every member of the crew. With the 4K Ultra HD disc bringing superfluous picture quality and immersive sound into the home, it's abundantly clear to me that this is no Goodfellas-lite, but a truly great film which belongs in any list of Scorsese's best films. It's a brilliant film by a masterful director, and a film which has been given one of the most impressive 4K transfers I've had the pleasure to enjoy.

Wheels on Meals. 1984. David and Thomas who own a mobile catering van team up with friend Moby to protect and young girl Sylvia from a ruthless lord of a castle to claim inheritance. Fun, laughter and Kung Fu from Barcelona, with the three brothers, Sammo, Jackie and Yuen, there is some slapstick comedy blended in from the first 10 minutes on how to escape a arguing couple and how to be a pickpocket from Lola Forner (Armour of God). Americans Keith Vitalio and Benny Urquidez play the tough henchman while Benny and Jackie have one of the greatest fight scenes. Thankfully the Eureka release does show the outtakes that became part of Jackie Chan movies and the end credits. ![]() Da 5 Bloods Netflix Its brilliantly shot and acted but it feels like two separate movies, one being the tale of 4 Nam vets returning to Vietnam for the remains of their fallen brother in arms and the tales that kept them all together and then a riff on Treasure Of The Sierra Madre which takes you by surprise. It's pretty damn violent and Spike Lee lets you know by showing real life executions and some images that will be burned into your mind forever, bare in mind this is rated 15. I just don't get Spike Lee. |

![]() It Couldn't Happen Here Originally meant to be an extended music video for The Pet Shop Boys this got turned into a film and boy this is a strange one. It's a tale of Neil & Chris travelling through England and along the way they meet some really weird people. I really don't know what to make of this as this film contains many of their many great 80's hits but it feels like it's a collection of random scenes put together. This was a very rare film to find on VHS and DVD until this BFI release and in a way, it's given it a kind of mythical status. I honestly don't know what to make of this, I'd say it's got a vibe similar to Rocketman. |

Project A Part II. 1987. After defeating the pirates, Dragon is now transferred and has to deal with some loose pirates and police corruption. Jackie Chan returns as Dragon, who is transferred to Sai Wan and has to deal with more problems on land than sea. This one i saw years ago and really was never that keen on it, viewing for the second time and seemed to really grow on me as it is more action and adventure with a lot of adrenaline pumped into it. Jackie always said his heroes were Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin and bring, out his comedic side a bit more that even those two guys would be laughing and Jackie shows off his singing skills with the end credits and bloopers.
