The Nesting. 1981. A writer suffering from agoraphobia rents a house unaware of the past it has and begins to feel haunted by the previous inhabitants. This is one movie that I do return to every once in a while, it is outdated with a lot of things but at least there is one good decent death scene in it and the late John Carradine showing his acting skills while telling the back story to the house in question. The film does start off well and promising with a character having a creepy laughter but dwindles out slowly to the end but the mystery of what happened is played out well even though it does drag on. 81v0ZUoRCiL._RI_.jpg

Invoked (2015, Humberto Rosa / Thairon Mendes) Irish set FF. This being one of my more favoured efforts, if only because they seem like real people ahem. A group of 20 somethings gain access to a disused hostel in order to get wrecked and fornicate. A seance seems like a natural end to the evening so it does .... A local legend recalled casts the die. Reasonably creepy in places.

Shriek Of The Mutilated (1974, Michael Findlay) Dug this one out to revisit after I remembered Adlum's involvement after enjoying IOTBF last week. A group of students follow their tutor into the woods to search for ... something hairy. No, it's not porn you foul buggers A joy to behold as it's about as crazed as it gets imho.

Paul. 2011. Two English nerds travelling in America for Comic-Con encounter a alien that's escaped from Area 51 called Paul. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost team up for the science fiction comedy that after the first 20 minutes I ended up with tears in my eyes and a bad case if the hiccups. Seth Rogen does a brilliant job as the voice of Paul and Jason Bateman as the man in black searching for 2 English guys, one devout religious woman and a alien in a R.V. while Sigourney Weaver plays "The Man" from Area 51. Think every nerd wants to have a encounter with a alien like this that can make people laugh and get out of being chased by two guys who think they may get probed. Les Miserables Not the Musical but the French Film which tells the story of a Police Unit dealing with criminal elements but one rash act causing a ripple effect. I heard good things about this one and whilst I found it enjoyable, I thought that the finale was going to be more of a focal point of the movie. Harold And Kumar Get The Munchies After an evening smoking Weed, Harold And Kumar decide that only going to White Castle for an insane Meal Deal will do, It doesn't go according to plan. Recently I found films that I enjoyed when they first came out (Ace Ventura, Rush Hour, Scary Movie) not as good when watched recently, this is still madcap but still enjoyable. BeerFest Film starring The Broken Lizard Group (They apparently were thing in the 2000's) where they participate in a International Underground Drinking Competition. Whilst it's long for my liking, if you can get it cheap, then it might be worth an investment. |
