Not seen it. It's not supposed to be much good. I do intend to see it at some point though.

North By Northwest. 1959.

A advertising executive goes on the run after being mistaken to be a spy.

Classic Hitchcock action thriller with perfect espionage look to it, Cary Grant takes the lead as a business man Roger Thornhill who is mistaken to be a government spy and is being chased which leads him up to the finale of Mount Rushmore with Eva Marie Saint with some excellent cinematography.

James Stewart plays the villain Phillip Vandamm who seems to be one step ahead and trying to kill Roger with one of the best plane chase sequences and only the way Hitchcock can make it look real. When I first saw it I had no appreciation for this film I thought it was boring and dull, now this film is a amazing piece of work that gets better.

I re-watched this for the second viewing myself a couple of months ago and like you I didn't love it the first time but on the second watch I really enjoyed it. I loved the scenes on the train and of course the classic ending scene with Mount Rushmore!

There is a lot of films that I saw when I was in my teens and thought they are rubbish, now watching them again I found they are a lot better and feel bad that I hated them.

Bet that was a great experience to see it on the big screen.

It was. I'd never actually seen it until then. It was at Preston UCI cinema. Every Thursday for a while they showed a 'classic' or 'Cult' film.

We ended up seeing Jaws, Cronenberg's Crash, Natural Born Killers, Psycho and The Haunting.

I love seeing classics at the cinema, I've watched a few over the years but not many actual 35mm prints. Dawn of the Dead was one which stands out though, it was a proper grindhouse well-worn print, scratched, wonky sound, bad edits for the violence cuts - it was a brilliant night I loved it!

Saw some classic horror things as well like Blood and Black Lace, Inferno, Day of the Dead but those were digital projections.

I'd love to see some Hitchcocks though.
