![]() Zoltan: Hound Of Dracula. 1977. Communist soldiers in Transylvania release the pet that belonged to Count Dracula which releases his original owner and servant Veidt Smith, who both travel to America to find the Count's last descendant Michael Drake. I only ever saw this once back in the 90s when Channel 4 showed nearly every Dracula film made from 1922 Nosferatu to Dracula 1979...I think or that I remember and this one seems to be forgotten. By all means this is no master piece, interesting back story on how the dog became a vampire and started infecting other dogs around it. Michael Pataki plays the family man who knows very little of his family's past until Inspector Branco played by Jose Ferrer turns up and tells him who he really is and what he must do. Reggie Nalder turns up not as a vampire but original owner of the dog and guardian of the hound of hell. The dialogue is not written perfectly, but there is some good tense moments and can tell when it looks like puppets are being used. Zoltan-Hound-Of-Dracula-Daybill-Poster-1.jpg

![]() A Simple Plan (1998, Sam Raimi) A retelling of Treasure Of The Sierra Madre, this time set in the cold ahem. 3 friends find slightly more than good luck when they come across a "gift" whilst hunting. Told plainly but effectively, I missed this at the time and was kicking myself whilst watching it ahem. It's nothing new, but no one can look quite as pained as Paxton can, so it was just fun to soak it up really. Better late than never!

Watched ASSAULT again last night. Cracking little British thriller, can't recommend it enough. The bad guy's commupence is SO original. The brilliant REVENGE tonight. THE MONSTER/I DON'T WANT TO BE BORN/THE DEVIL WITHIN tomorrow night. The delectable Susan George in FRIGHT Thursday night. AND finally BEWARE MY BRETHERN Friday night. Rounding off a nice wee week of Brit classics.

![]() Summer Of Fear. 1978. Julia who lost her parents in a car crash goes to stay with her cousin Rachel and her parents. Over time Rachel begins to suspect something is not right with Julia. Wes Craven's T.V movie made just after doing The Hills Have Eyes starring Linda Blair as the sweet Rachel who seems bothered by things happening since the arrival of Lee Purcell and tries to look into her background. For a low budget Craven certainly does his best with tension and atmosphere, it can get a tad confusing but by the time everything is known about Julia then it becomes more interesting and fast paced. ![]() The Inspector Wears Skirts (1988, Wilson Chin) The 'rock turns up here and there to teach this lot a few lessons. Standard HK caper. "...there were these 15 girls who went to the police academy ..." etc. They struggle, they bond, montage .. the whole bit. ![]() Whatever I have to sit through to see Cynthia at her prime, leaping, kicking and exclaiming her disdain all over the place. Glorious. ![]() ![]()

![]() Black Narcissus. 1947. A group of nuns head to the Himalayas and deal with other problems that come their way. Deborah Kerr is designated to establish a small convent and deals with the harsh climate of both fear and isolation while trying to teach the local young children and a general played by Sabu. When fear, isolation kicks in there is a sense of sexual depravity and lusting going on with Kathleen Byron, who seems to be loosing her faith. First time watching this and it's bright colours and cinematography is amazing, and plenty of tension right at the end is played out well. Blacknar.jpg
