Just watched ...

Elm Street (2010)

Platinum Dunes had previously done justice to their previous remakes but this was just pointless! The characters were less than interesting. The dream sequences were .. well, boring! With today's technology you would have thought they would have come up with some clever imagery for the dreams .. but no .. bland bland bland! Oh and don't get me started on the CGI blood and gore (again!)

Still, one redeeming feature was that the sinky floor scene looked MUCH better in the remake than the sinky stairs in the first!

Just watched Halloween 2 (Rob Zombie) and although I was expecting the worst, I enjoyed it! It felt a lot leaner than the first remake and I liked the evolution of the Loomis character as an opportunistic money grabber even if it wasn't in keeping with the character in the original films. There was enough gore to keep the boredom from setting in and all in all, whilst no classic, not a bad film to watch with a couple of beers! Still hate the interpretation of the Laurie Strode character though..

a bit of teen horror this week for me plus a classic hammer flick and some Korean films too...

Final Destination 2-
a well plotted horror thriller with some decent acting and some great kills, the first and the second are the best of the series.

Urban Legend -
so so 90s teen slasher with some interesting ideas but an almost identical plot to Scream, Jared Leto stars before he became a middle-aged Emo and Rebecca Gayeheart who is way to old to be playing a collage girl, some nice gore and the great Robert England. but the latter does not make up for the unoriginallity of the script.

Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed -
great hammer film with Peter Cushing on great form as the evil dr. Frankenstein and some good 70s gore. Highly recommended....

The Chaser -
Brilliant Korean thriller that reminded me of Oldboy crossed with Se7en that moves at a cracking pace and drags you into it's frantic search.

Typhoon -
Boring Korean James Bond wannabe, well directed and acted with some tightly choreographed action set pieces but they are few and far between. Worth a watch but stick with real bond.

watched Sudden Impact last night and found it disappointing but still have the Dead Pool to watch so looking forward to that. Then this afternoon i finally managed to watch Shutter Island which i enjoyed very much, and it has a fantastic central performance from DiCaprio.

I prefer Dead Pool. :P I don't know why.

Last night I watched the Friday The 13th remake, didn't really like it. & I also watched Terminator 2, which is a childhood fav and I love it.

I have been catching up on a load of Public Domain titles lately.

I have concluded that Lady Frankenstein, Naked Massacre and Scream Bloody Murder are all interesting films deserving of restoration (all three films are cut in their PD versions) and release in decent quality prints.
