if thats the case (fanwise that is) go for it, he must have a genuine love for the genre (he co-wrote it), and some of the references are well done.

watched two films yesterday. The first was Walter Hill's Directorial Debut, Hard Times about bare knuckle boxing during the depression that was a great watch, love me some Walter Hill grittyness, great performances by James Coburn and Charlie Bronson as Chaney the fighter. Man was Bronson ripped in his 50s. Great stuff. 4/5

Second film was John Huston's brilliant Key Largo, a film that drags me in everytime. You have Edward G. Robinson playing a psycho mobster, Lauren Becall looking lovely and Humphry Bogart being all kinds of bad ass. Great screenplay, great direction, great setting and a brilliant cast. 5/5

Watched Dinner for Shmucks: which was fun but not as funny as it could've been considering the cast.

Superman. Such a classic film which has stood the test of time.

I watched that recently too and I enjoyed it a lot but would agree that it wasn't as laugh-out-loud funny as I expected it to be. The actual dinner scene was all over a bit too quickly and was a bit underwhelming. Still worth a watch though.

Just finished watching Premutos: Lord Of The Living Dead. The end gory action scene is fantastic, but they could of done with cutting about 20mins of filler to make the film flow a bit better.

REVENGERS TRAGEDY - Alex Cox's adaptation of the 17th century play set in futuristic Liverpool. It's not bad and has a good cast (Christopher Eccleston, Eddie Izzard, Anthony Booth, Derek Jacobi, Stephen Graham and, er, Margi Clarke *shudder*) although the decision to retain the old style dialogue is bit difficult to get used to at first. Also, It's nice to see many familiar locations, including Aintree racecourse, which is a 10 minute walk from me.

THE CRAZY BUNCH - Comic Spaghetti Western with George Hilton which tries so hard to be crazy and OOT but fails. There are still some good laughs to be had, though, including a Klu Klux Klan style group who hate politicians (We'll capture one and torture him by making him tell the truth for 2 minutes) and a visit to a mental home which features a rooster that barks, a man who thinks he's a dog (What have you let him out for? You know it's too early for his walk) a barmy doctor with a twitch whose methods keep backfiring on him and a guy who thinks he is the statue of liberty. The main characters are a lot like Terence Hill and Bud Spencer and I wouldn't be surprised if it was written with them in mind.

just finished watching Swing Girls for the 6th time, a brilliantly funny and sweet Japanese comedy with an awesome jazz soundtrack. Amazingly this film hasn't been released outside of asia...
