Yep, I hear you... I won't defend The Shining as this was the thread to leave rip rather than debate (I mean it can be that if you want). Anyone see The Shining mini-series ? I caught some of this (well 15min) on TrueMovies or one of those scrapheap channels and it looked dull. Sam Raimi was in if I remember rightly...

The Shining is an excellent film, but a piss poor adaption, it barely resembles the source material, which I'm told the TV series sticks pretty close to (I'm yet to see it, so I can't comment).

I'm going to get lynched for this....I never cared for Star Wars. Oh, I enjoy it well enough, but to me it was always the epitamy of mundane science fiction.

I've never understood the mass appeal of the Star Wars films either, so you're not alone!

I enjoyed the Lord of the Rings films ...... but all i can remember from the third one is the film carrying on for an hour, long after the story had finished with endless farewell scenes.

The Two Towers is the very last film i saw at the cinema. Not sure what that says actually.

The only reason i will watch The Hobbit is to see Sylvester McCoy. I'll wait until Zoverstocks are selling it for a penny first.

I almost never go these days. I saw The Frozen Ground recently cos it was an 18 - a very rare these days at my multiplex. Film was an enjoyable time waster but it was a thrill to see a film surrounded by adults and not irritating teenagers on their phones (says the old crank)

Never seen your set up so won't claim it isn't sufficient, but irrigardless there are some films i just think are better on the big screen than at home, Pacific Rim being the most recent example.
