I'm gonna cheat a little and say I love the end credits for Night of the Living Dead - those heavily textured photographs of the zombie squads at work (like old whaling photographs I think), accompanied by that eerie electronic library music... incredible...

Some good ones on here. I really like the opening to Living Dead At The Manchester Morgue. Those pulsating circles drive me mental and then what could be better than a naked woman running around the streets of London!

The way the camera zooms in on Hopkins & Stearne sitting astride their horses after just receiving payment for the hanging of a supposed witch at the beginning of Witchfinder General, and the accompanying opening credits sequence.Excellent stuff! In fact this opening is a little curious as we all know the film as just Witchfinder General, but according to the film's on-screen title shouldn't it be Matthew Hopkins - Witchfinder General?

With only the viewer noticing the above female as nobody else does in this scene! The relevant public members simply sit and/or stand looking lifeless just like your typical Romero zombie.

*Note - 'Star Wars' images One of my greatest memories of seeing a film at the cinema was 'Star Wars' back in 1977 I can clearly remember this shot of the star destoyer space ship entering the frame, and then just coming...and coming...and coming...and coming...and coming It was a truly jaw-dropping moment

Think my two favourites have already been picked - Once Upon a Time in the West is jar-droppingly amazing and by far my favourite. Suspiria is another, just for how much sound and fury it manages to pack into those opening 15 minutes or so! Another would be Night of the Living Dead, lodged firmly in my mind for the impact it had on me as a child, the sheer terror of the unstoppable lone zombie shambling after Barb. Blue Velvet is a stunner, beautifully illustrating the theme of the film in a few simple images, by turns warmly nostalgic, blackly comic, and truly nightmarish! The opening sequence to Magnolia is probably the best part of the film, with the series of bizarre coincidences and brilliant deconstruction of the rooftop suicide / shotgun murder case . . .
