Starring Jason Statham, "The Bee Keeper is a lightning-paced thriller deeply steeped in the mythology of Bee Keeping." https://deadline.com/2021/08/jason-s...er-1234823345/ This sounds like something from a random movie plot generator or a cheese dream screenwriter Kurt Wimmer had.

The only film I can think of about beekeeping is Mr. Holmes, the 2015 mystery-drama with Ian McKellen as an elderly Sherlock Holmes teaching a young boy about the process of deduction and solving an old crime. Maybe it's going to be a cross between Mr. Holmes and The Fast and Furious, with Jason Statham as a retired Royal Marines speeding around Paris in a muscle car with a beehive in the passenger seat, on a mission to get the Queen to another beehive by nightfall. He served one Queen, now he needs to save another! It goes without saying that he'll beat people up and shit blows up.

Apart from the trailer sometimes looking like a promo for a spoof film, like those in the middle of the Tarantino-Rodriguez Grindhouse double bill, it actually looks pretty good and it's been met with almost universal critical acclaim (97% of 207 reviews are positive with an average rating of 8.2/10).

The likes of Mum and Dad, Color out of Space, Mandy, Willy's Wonderland, Pig and the upcoming Prisoners of the Ghostland (Opening next week) have all been highly acclaimed whilst less acclaimed recent ones like Primal and Grand Isle i've found very enjoyable. Everyone knows Cage went wild during the 00's buying islands and German castles, however his roles and movies these last five or six years have been on the whole very good. |

His expensive tastes and financial difficulties have been well-documented, so it's unsurprising he wasn't really in a position to turn down a well-paying acting gig and couldn't be choosy. Part of that prolific output means the quality will vary and for every one or two bad films, there's a decent one.
