You've actually seen 14 worse films than Blood Orgy of the She-Devils?

Daughters of Satan (1972)

A pre-Magnum PI Tom Selleck stars alongside his moustache in this Philippines based occult thriller that comes across a little like an episode of The Night Gallery.

Selleck buys a painting of witches being burned at the stake, after noticing that the central witch bears more than a little resemblance to his wife. Initially a little creeped out by the painting, his wife begins to become possessed by the witch within, acquaints herself with a rottweiler, and gets involved with a pack of modern-day reincarnated witches who begin to plot her husband's murder.

Despite being a little silly and light on the thrills, Daughters of Satan has an unmistakable charm to it and is a mildly entertaining use of 90 minutes.

Day of the Reaper (1984)

Day of the Reaper depicts a hooded cannibal killer who stalks five women who are vacationing in Sunnyville, Florida.

I knew that I was going to find this film interesting from the onset, as the beautifully simplistic but raw electro score filled my ears, and which continues throughout the film's duration. You are also treated to extreme use of coloured filters and a disclaimer stating that the film was shot on super 8, the audio having been added later. It then goes on to say that the video transfer was made by videotaping the projected image out of shoe box (!). Therefore, irrelevant of the film's other attributes, I knew I was in for an interesting experience where its sound and visuals were concerned.

The film itself was made for $1000 - and it shows. However, the makers obviously had a lot of passion for film-making and there are some obvious attempts at conveying this, along with some creative flourishes throughout. There is also a lot of padding and it is clear that most of the dialogue is improvised, most of which comes across as strained and unnecessary.

Whilst not something I'll be rushing to watch again anytime soon, Day of the Reaper was an interesting little fan-made and funded film.

Just as an amendment to my recent Evilspeak viewing i just realized I had watched the longer version which was on disc 2 of Anchor Bays release (the drop in quality on the insert scenes was the giveaway i suppose).
So i re-watched the standard version on disc 1,which story wise does zip along and gets to the meat of the story quicker,it also loses a lot of characterization and also a whole character in the pig farmer scenes,so I definably prefer the longer version for sure. And damn it the bit where Coopersmith is shown the puppies by the chef still brought a lump to my throat,so still a highly recommended film, probably best not to mention the various bits head violence due to current affairs.............ill get me cloak.

It always comes down to men, puppies and inappropriate lumps with you.

Where's today's review B_E and it's twenty reposts and links scattered across the forum. The little MTDSs and I hunt the forum daily in a weird version of "Where's Wally" looking for them.
