What did you think of this?

I had the Alpha version with that artwork as it's cover and then upgraded to the recent Retromedia release. It has some lovely Gothic sequences especially in long shot of the girls walk past the castle.

I thought it was okay - the gothic ambiance and settings did help to boost my enjoyment a bit, but as I'm finding with a lot of Alberto De Martino's films, whilst the ingredients are all there they never seem to come together in a way that ultimately satisfies, and whilst I've enjoyed to some extent what I've seen from him so far I've always been left with the feeling that there's always room for improvement.

Incidentally, it was actually some of the gothic scenes I stumbled across whilst doing a related search which led me to want to seek it out:

Last night's film involved Vincent Price, Hilary Dwyer, witch trials and torture.

I do of course mean Cry of the Banshee (1970). An enjoyable, sleazy romp that often follows the same theme as the superior Witchfinder General but is nowhere near as good. Always a decent watch all the same.

They should of shot the C@#T.

The 'Nightmare at 20,000 Feet' segment from Twilight Zone - The Movie is also well worth a watch. John Lithgow takes the Shatner role as the aerophobic passenger who's the only person to see a flying creature ripping parts off the plane he's travelling in. There's some great Craig Reardon creature FX in this segment too.
