Fully agree. Black Christmas is another film that's basically bloodless but the atmosphere of the piece is excellent.

One of the creepiest films made.
My sister in law was a nurse,who stayed at the nurses housing within the hospital grounds.
She says Black Christmas was always a rental fave.She thought it was terrifying.

I enjoyed Doomwatch too. Filmed not far from me in Polkerris (near Fowey). Incidentally the residents do look like that after a few scrumpies.

Another Eastenders regular that turns up in a cult Brit horror is June Brown (Dot Cotton) in Psychomania.

She was also cast in Straw Dogs (as Peter Vaughan's wife) but her scenes were deleted and the footage no longer survives. She filmed quite a large sequence with Susan George where they both attend the village laundry.

Other former Eastenders women who popped up in Brit horrors include Gretchen Franklin (Ethel) as Billie Whitelaw's housekeeper in Twisted Nerve, Anna Wing (Lou Beale) as the psychic in Full Circle, and Hilda Braid (Nana Moon) as the hotel owner in Killer's Moon.
