There's also some nudity and some effective gore.
The scene at the end (on the bed) was pretty...,good fun though.
I think Fulci maybe would have been proud.

Not too bad for a very low budget late 80's giallo.
I really like this one, it reminds me of a cheesy gore-drenched spin on Hitchcock's Psycho - it's a lot of fun. Prefer it to some of Fulci's later films, too.

May have to give this another watch in the near future,I think it might get better with repeated viewings.
Did you see Massacre BE?
If so what did you think of that one?

There are a few decent looking scenes in it but overall I'd say this certainly isn't a great giallo.
Still it has a séance (like a few other gialli),lesbians, gays, nudity,a strange killer, some supernatural touches (yes,it's actually a giallo fantastico, well part of it!),the story involves the making of a horror movie (which seems to involve filming transvestite scenes?) and a decent amount of gore (some killings near the end are a bit tame tough).
I'd say I sort of enjoyed watching it but be advised that I also said that when I finished watching Mattei's Madness (1994 and better imho).

Just arrived...

Il gatto dal viso d'uomo (2009) (R2,Oh My Gore!) Limited Digi (1000) / English friendly
Blackaria (2009) (R2,Le Chat Qui Fume) + Soundtrack CD / Unconfirmed

Il gatto's back cover states it's limited to 1000 (to my surprise).
More details to follow.
I'll be giving them a watch this weekend...

Love those covers bdc.

Watched Death Laid An Egg last night. Can it really be called a giallo? I didn't get much of the film, the plot was hard to follow. But it was good just to look at.

Well it's more of a suspense giallo I think.
Did you have subs?
The soundtrack can be distracting as well...
Maybe a second viewing is required?

It was an english dub. Your right on the soundtrack, it was pretty off putting. I will probably give it another watch, I enjoyed it but I just didn't get it.

Have a nice little list of giallo to watch:
Case of The Bloody Iris
Hitch-hike
Black Belly
Don't Torture A Duckling
The Fifth Cord
All The Colours Of The Dark
EDIT ALSO
Killer Reserved 9 Seats
Eyeball
You'll Die At Midnight
