some great films being recommended here! having a dig through my old cat III collection, i think the following haven't been mentioned and are worth a look..

don't stop my crazy love for you
diary of a serial killer
naked poison
fatal love
peeping tom
daughter of darkness 2
brother of darkness
dr lamb
untold story 2
run and kill

also it's not really a horror film but i was particularly impressed with 'mad detective' a great deranged cop thriller.

Here's a fun review (from a new fun site) that doesn't seem to mention Savini.

I hated it, it was 95 minutes of Shu Qi whining and the Pang brothers failing at making a horror film.

Me too, I'll have to give them a watch soon, then.

Gotta love those crap English subtitles. The back cover synopses are often just as baffling, with one film, which I forget now, described as a group of friends in a boat getting 'bottomed up' whatever the hell that means!

And in one film some guy needed the toilet and kept saying 'I need to stool'. Okaaaay. I'm sure you do.

I watched one Jet Li film (Fong Sai Yuk?) and at a crucial point in the film where he explains everything, it didn't make one scrap of sense. It was totally unintelligible and I ended up not understanding any of the film at all.

Those wrecked/nutty English subs really add to the charm.
Apparently the subbers were paid very little because although the English subs had to be there according to the then HK law, nobody was going to read them.

Apparently the simplified Chinese subs are also wrecked/nutty though!

Also some translators use the Mandarin audio track and some the Cantonese, adding even more confusion with subs popping up when nothing is being said in the other track...

Btw the caps above are from vcd so represent the theatrical version.
