The Sexual Story Of O (1984, JF, Golden Films)

By gum, that music sounds familiar ... a young girl reads ... but a male voice tells us

"We are intruders in the fog ... looking for blurred images .... individuals chained to dusty memories ... that are not even ours"

Which is the lot of the Franco fan in a nutshell tbh.
I digress ...

It's all about the illicit gaze on the face of it. People seeing what they shouldn't ... and from appearances is there some psychic business afoot? White slavery perhaps? Regardless, the constant shots of flowers (signifying 'an awakening'?) will teach you at the back not to doze off ...
There are quite a few signifiers tbh.
Taking the term neighbourhood watch to a whole new level, a rather liberated cough couple initiate a cherubic student into their world of 'free love'. Human nature being what it is, let's see how this turns out ... . As viewers of Jesus will know ... things are never cut and dried. That's the fun and the terror of watching these films. Who are these people? Where DO they all come from ..? They look to all intense purposes human, but most are cesspits ... anyway our heroine is now inveigled with perverts bent on conquest of her very soul. The one thing it isn't is erotic Something I wish I could explain to the neighbours sometimes

Only a week late ...

Down Town (1975, Je ... really? )

When portly 'tec Pereira is hired to snap something sordid, his world starts to ... fall apart is mildly putting it ahem! Yet another Franco film that belies his jazz roots. Riffing on genres as he does .. this is and isn't just another detective story. What with the Franco playing said gumshoe ... Lina playing the femme fatale ... this can feel like watching a bizarre private ritual at times . All topped off with the usual quixotic ST. Recommended. But then I am biased towards this period ...

Since it's a bank holiday and I'm not going out I thought I'd post a pic of my current Jess Franco Collection, at 22 discs I've got about a 10th of his output

I'm hoping to order the new Severin discs next pay day

I might watch Su Muru this afternoon actually, seems like a good 'Afternoon at home' film, I've not watched it yet!

I bought the dvd of it a few weeks ago and haven't watched it yet. It's only 79 minutes so thought it would be good to save for one of those nights where you want to watch something late on but don't have a lot of time.

I did indeed watch it this afternoon, fun but silly James Bond rip-off romp. Nice that it seems to be Maria Rohm's first movie!

I can’t wait for volume two, it’s already been pushed back once so let’s see what happens come June!
