This band was recommended to me when I was buying a latte this morning by the guy behind the counter. I've not heard them before but I like it.

On the 26th of May I attended Redemtion Festival in Dublin a one day festival organised by one of my favourite bands and home grown metal kings Primordial. The line up consisted of Asphyx,Ram,Mourning Beloveth and Winterfyllet. I have waited many years to see Primordial live was it worth the wait ?

The festival got underway at 2pm but due to booking I to our hotel we didn't get there until 4 just in time to catch the start of Winterfylleth . I hadn't seen any of the bands on the bill before so it was excitement was building especially for Asphyx and of course Primordial.

First up was English Black Folk Natal band Winterfylleth. I was familiar with some of their music but I don't own any of their album and in the lead up to the gig I had been watching live videos on YouTube to get a feel what to expect. Ill be honest what I had seen was not overly impressive so I was not over excited walking in to the venue. With a quick look around the beer garden my first pint in hand and the very very inviting smell of BBQ we headed in to check out the first band of the day. All my worries were washed away minutes into their first some the sound was amazing so fast and brutal with a perfect blend of harsh and clean vocals perfectly complimenting each other. I didn't want it to end but sadly they only had a half an hour slot no where near enough time but thanks to that small slot I am now a major fan and will be picking up all of their records. Can't recommend Winterfylleth live highly enough .

Mourning Beloveth

I am ashamed to admit that I had never heard Mourning Beloveth before and the fact that they are Irish makes me feel even worse.

Lets get straight to the point here Mourning Beloverth are absolutely amazing they blew me away I was stuck to the floor just entranced watching and listening as they showed the whole room just how beautiful misery can really be. Mourning Beloveth play Doom/Death and sound very familiar to early My Dying Bride which is heaven to me. Their music is filled with sorrow and melancholy and again a mix of clean soaring mournful vocals and brutal death like screams both equally filled with loss and pain. Lucky for us the set was an hour long this time but still not long enough when they still only fitted four of their mmasterpieces into the time given. More records to add to the collection.
