Opeth is back! The right blend of prog rock and death metal. Just don't ask me how you're supposed to say the song name...

The Death Metal aspects of the song are superb. Never thought i'd really hear Akerfeldt sound so aggressive again.

There is a trailer for the new album and it states guest appearance from Joey Tempest!

Sounds intriguing. Tempest is an excellent singer.

Advert posted by Celtic Frost in 1984, looking for a drummer

Presumably it was Reed St. Mark who got the gig

Default Borknagar - The Winterway

I haven't listened to The Olden Domain for years, had it on this afternoon and loved it all over again.

Default Gojira - Mea Culpa

Official audio now released so you can actually hear the song, it's just too short now

I must do a write up of recent gigs I have seen over the weekend but next week I'll be going to see

Batushka
Vlitmas
God Dethroned
Ater

Shame it's a week night and I'll only have a couple of hours sleep before I'm back up for work but you gotta pay the cost to be a metal boss

Suffocation_sq_DUB-web.jpg

Back in June I saw Suffocation with Support from Distant I absolutely love Suffocation Ricky Myers is a great fit after Frank Mullen on vocals obviously Frank is untouchable but they really found the right man for the job but more on them later.

I had never heard of Distant before they were announced as always you listen to as much of their stuff before the gig so you know what yo expect and see if it's worth picking up a shit when you get in and the line is small get all your business out of the way so you can find a proper position at the gig but anyway enough pre ritual talk

I wasn't impressed with what I heard before hand but I still have them a chance maybe they would click with me on the night but alarm bells started to ring when all their merch was baby pink with anime girls all over it not a great first impression so I thought right the merch isn't for me but I'll let the music do the talking. I talked alright but it just talked rubbish like a coked up Co worker at a staff party saying much but saying nothing. They had all video of Khasbulla ?Khazbik? Magomedov the midget mma guy playing for their who set which is someone I cannot stand. The music had so many parts on most song where the band just stopped and there was silence for a few seconds before it kicked back in it was horrible I just went and stood at the bar having a coke until they f**ked off. Not for me no sir not for me.

Suffocation appeared from a door at the back of the venue and made their way through the crowd with an aura and demeanor of total focus and it's time for business. Bring it on I thought finally I get to see these legends in the flesh what could go wrong.

Quite a bit

The sound was brutal and not in a good way the vocals were horrible it just sounded like he was mumbling rather than growling and that's not his fault at all cause he is an amazing vocalist but the sound guy really really ruined the show. Musically it was solid but at times the mix was just so monotone I left the gig deflated but I did get two great looking shirts. At first I did think it was the venue but a few weeks back I saw Nile in the same venue and it was perfect more on that later.

ticket-napalm-death-crowbar-full-of-hell-the-brat-en-barcelona-26-february-barcelona_img_1673394.jpg

Can't believe I'll be seeing this in March first time seeing Napalm Death and Crowbar I love both bands I can't wait I had never heard of Full of Hell but Brat are a band I have been listening since last year the are a really exciting full on high intensity band they play snippets of really cheesy pop and dance songs before each of their songs in the live sets and it's pretty hilarious I'm looking forward to seeing them.
