Next Wednesday I'll be seeing Gatecreeper, 200 Stab Wounds and Enforced I only recently got into Gatecreeper I'm mainly going for 200 Stab Wounds I don't know much of Enforced should be a great night its a smaller venue than usual hopefully that means chaos but honestly metal crowds are gone lame as fook pits are rubbish people rubbing off each other rather than slamming into each other sad times.

I read this as you are going to a gig where people rub each other off.

Nothing ruins a gig more than friction

Last Monday I finally got to see BATUSHKA as I said before drama and politics aside I was here for the performance and the music so that's the end of that.

Doors opened at 6 and the first band Ater took to the stage at 6:15 which was a load of balls honestly most of the place was lining up to buy merch while they played. Giving the early start and playing to a half empty room they really put on a great performance. They play slow doom black and death metal I was really impressed tons of atmosphere and a really devastating bass sound. Half way through their set and the place was starting to fill up which was great for them too hopefully everyone got enough of a taste to give them I proper listen I know I will be.

God Dethroned have been consistent over their entire career so I was very much looking forward to finally getting to see these guys live but sadly after a really strong start to the set things started to feel a little repetitive during the back end of their set maybe it was the stuff from the new album it just felt a little boring and the band seem tho lose their enthusiasm a little which I couldn't understand why at this point the place was packed to the rafters and the crowd were loving it. The sound was great the musicianship was great maybe they weren't convinced by their new album I'm not quite sure.

VLTIMAS

David Vincent and Rune Erickson enough said I'll just be moving along now

David Vincent is still the absolute man people can talk shit all they like about his look his clothes his onstage rants but make no mistake this man still knows how to command an audience his on stage presence just commands respect his is big and intimidating walking the stage in full length leather coat and large rimmed black preacher hat but this isn't just all show he backs it up with one of the most powerful voices I have ever heard you could feel it rumbling inside your chest when he sang. In between songs he had his little speeches about how soft the world has become and how easily offended people are and I was all about it the man speaks nothing but facts and he always made singing happy birthday to their merch lady metal as fook. The band themselves are amazing so it's not just the David Vincent show this is a real band effort I must save I was a little star struck between him and Rune Erickson on the stage Check out both of VLTIMAS albums they are brilliant seriously.

BATUSHKA are next the whole place falls silent and the stage glows blood red and members of the band float onto the stage lighting incense and mount beautiful paintings from the Eastern European Orthodox Church people just stand and watch the atmosphere is electric but completely silent it's amazing it's spiritual and it feels like everyone is having the same spiritual experience. The place erupts in screams and cheers as the rest of the band hit the stage and the next 90 minutes is one of the most beautiful things I have ever witnessed the music sounds amazing the black metal vocals and the chants from the two backing singers send chills through your body. I have never had goosebumps last so long on my body I thought waiting a week I'd be able to find to words to express how amazing this was but I still can't you just need to experience it. I will say this and it's a fact but something changed in me last Monday night I'm not quite sure what but I'm definitely a different man after it. Although their imagery is Christian Orthodox BATUSHKA is not a Christian band just to clear up I'm not born again or anything

HAAAAAIL SATAAAAAAAAAN

Just in case people thought I was going to start posting Cliff Richard singing the lords prayer or anything

If you get a chance to see this band live just do it even if you need to travel to another country believe me you will thank me AMAZING.

There is no greater power than the power of music.

The new Cradle of Filth song, presumably from their as of yet un-named forthcoming album. I like it, has a bit of the old sound coming back, and the female vocal definitely reminiscent of the Dusk/Cruelty era.

Cradle of Filth - Malignant Perfection

Dani Filth divulges about the track and video:
"Our new single and video, 'Malignant Perfection?, is our horrific homage to All Hallows Eve, as embodied by the female deification of evil. It is a perfect musical accompaniment to the spirit of the witching season; invoking dark, Autumnal splendour and celebrating the time when the thin line between life and death is at its most tenuous and the denizens of the otherworld seek to break the veil into ours.

The video, directed by the imitable Vicente Cordero and featuring the creative masterstrokes of one Missy Munster, is a playground of seductive darkness rife with malicious monsters and cryptid creations, all vying voraciously for the viewer?s eternal soul.

This comes at a perfect juncture for the Halloween period and our 'By Order Of The Dragon' UK/European Autumn tour. It also arrives on the back of a sensational collaboration with massive fashion label Vetement and also Blackcraft Clothing, and in the fiery wake of a successful sold-out Australian tour."

Really like that new Cradle song. Love the Halloween inspired video too. What i also like is with Dani getting older he probably can't screech like a demented baby for minutes on end so his voice is far better than it was in the early days. For me anyway.
