I read a similar review in the paper this morning and as i like Gaga's first album thought i'd give some tracks a listen on YT. However Perfect Illusion and A-YO just sounded like her other stuff and Million Reasons was a piano ballad. I was waiting for some rifftastic tracks courtesy of Josh Homme.

She does have a rich bluesy voice on A-YO but musically it's meh.

Perfect Illusion (which I love) and A-YO (which is OK) are the only dancefloor tracks, the rest are are more mid-tempo to ballad, and I don't think there are any riffy stompers on there at all, however she's probably trying to ease her fans into a new direction and not alienate them out of the gate. It's worth a listen.

I've still got an unlistened to deluxe version of her second album on the cd pile.

This was the review i read. Makes it seem a whole lot better than what i've actually heard.

Lady Gaga, the world's most eccentric female pop star lets her natural talent shineÂ* | Daily Mail Online

Don't shoot me, a mate linked me to the review earlier.

I stopped reading after the reviewer referred to Josh Homme as an 'Indie Hipster' Ugh the Daily Mail.

I agree with him actually.

QOTSA are an indie band nowadays. Their sound has changed immensely from the early days, probably why i think they suck. Even live performances of tracks like Born to Hula come across as indie. Gone are the desert rock band i used to love.
