Which bands are on the American Hardcore lp and is it connected to the book that came out a few years ago?
Weirdly enough I've just today found out that one of my mates is getting the drummer out of original no-wavers DNA (Ikue Mori) for a gig in March (happening in a small town in the Lake District, which seems like quite a leap from the Lower East Side 1979... maybe it's me being small-minded, but it kind of conjures images of Lou Reed appearing in Last of the Summer Wine.)
Erm, to get back to your question, yes, the CD is the soundtrack to the documentary 'American Hardcore' which was based on the book 'American Hardcore: A Tribal History'. Have neither seen nor read, but the CD's pretty good and includes some obvious bands (Black Flag, Circle Jerks, Middle Class, Bad Brains, Minor Threat, MDC etcetc) and some less obvious ones (ie. Flipper). 26 tracks in 38 minutes, so it whooshes by but kind of seems really long at the same time. It's a nice primer, but if you're into hardcore punk you'll probably have a lot of this stuff anyway.
Make Them Die Slowly and Wes like this.

I've just finished listening to The Essential Clash and am now listening to Hey! Ho! Let's go: The Ramones Anthology for some more old school punk.
VicDakin and PaulD like this.

The Go-Gos, 'Beauty and the Beat'.
Then Sparks and Jane Wiedlin - 'Cool Places'. Jane is a godess. Ron Mael is a deeply sinister god.

Very very very old Muse album, are they still producting anything? I actually have no idea. I saw them last year at a smallish concert compared to what they used to do, theyd changed a bit out of their usual black suit and skinny black tie outfit and were rocking more casual clothes and originial-looking dr martens, was awesome.

I've just set up a random Metallica playlist on Windows Media Player (random by album, not by track) and am currently listening to Death Magnetic which is a huge improvement over St Anger.

Next up: Ride the Lightning.
