Warped tapes of Barry Manilow, all day, every weekend.

Mother has recordings of Barry Manilow either live or on the radio, they haven't aged well. It sounds like a room full of crickets. It's so baffling that I can't remember what music actually sounds like.

I've just finished listening to all of Metallica's studio albums – listened to Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets yesterday – and the first three are so much better than the rest, with St. Anger as the nadir.

It's just a shame there is an overuse of kick drumming and heavy guitar use rather than rhythm and anything really memorable about the instruments – doing away with guitar solos for the album was a horrible mistake.

As far as I'm concerned, the best thing from the album is a byproduct: the documentary Some Kind of Monster!
