Take Metallica seeing as we were talking about them in the first place. I saw them in 93 at Milton Keynes Bowl. Support was The Almighty (three top 40 albums including one at #8 and numerous top 40 singles) Diamond Head, Megadeth and of course the headliners. So two huge bands, one very popular in the UK and a stalwart of the NWOBHM. Then again in 95 at Donington - Metallica played with Skidrow, Therapy, Slayer, Slash's Snakepit. White Zombie, Machine Head, Warrior Soul and Corrosion of Conformity. - As a metal fan at that time all those bands were must sees. You really can't say the same about all the main stage bands at Download. Just my opinion of course. |

Yeah those 2 Metallica headline shows have fantastic lineups, not wanting to be the grumpy old bastard but the 90s really were better haha. Never got to see The Almighty back in the day but I wish I had done.

This was the very first song i heard from this band. It might seem crazy now but in 1987 this was edgy and so ****ing cool and the band on stage appeared so dangerous. Guns N' Roses - It's So Easy Appetite for Destruction (1987) |
