I bought their last album after seeing them on tv at Reading. Its reasonable catchy pop rock.

never liked anything i heard before that album though.

if a band like that introduced people to rock and metal then them splitting is surely a bad thing in my opinion. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Another member of the Maiden family died yesterday, Nicko's former drum tech and assistant tour manager, Steve 'Gaddsy' Gadd, hied been suffering with cancer for a long time. R.I.P

"Earache Records will be marking this year's Record Store Day with a number of special limited edition releases. Among the rarities being unveiled on April 20th will be The World's Shortest Album - available on vinyl for the first time and clocking in at just 83 seconds. Crammed into less than two minutes is an assortment of grindcore acts from the past two decades: Napalm Death, Wormrot, A.C., Insect Warfare, Brutal Truth and more. The album will be on a 5" vinyl, presented in a 12" sleeve.

They were probably more tuneful and melodic as well!

I've just looked at the new album chart.

14 hard rock / metal releases in the top 100.

Ranging from Jimi and Bon Jovi to Avantasia and Killswitch Engage at no 15.

I saw High on Fire play a joint headline gig with Mastodon at Manchester Academy many moons ago.

I much preferred High on Fire to Mastodon in a live setting.

Things have probably changed now seeing as Mastodon are getting huge.
