I generally hate rap and hip-hop music, but also like House of Pain.

I think they must be the rap and hip-hop haters rap and hip-hop artist.

That's possible, yes.

I don't listen to any Rap or Hip Hop apart from four exceptions:
- House of Pain: see above.
- Wax: his lyrics are hilarious and his songs have very often really nice melodies (e.g. She Used To Be Mine or Get It In)
- Bloodhound Gang: because it's part of their musical concept.
- Iggy Azalea: a female white rapper with a black booty.

They are in a small group of rap / dance artists who rock fans love - Prodigy, Cypress Hill and Pendulum are three others.

I don't care for Cypress Hill.

Dance / Drum 'n' Bass is a completely different story, as I love a lot of stuff from that particular area of music; just not rap or hip-hop.

Plus, I wouldn't consider myself a rock fan either (unless you mean the geological kind)

You like plenty of rock bands. Granted they are also classed as industrial but in the end its still rock.

Possibly. I guess it comes down to how you define or classify it. Like with film, I'm not keen on tarring things with the genre brush. The industrial stuff I listen to I feel is quite far removed from what most people consider 'rock'. At least by the majority who like to classify these things.

It's like with metal; there are so many apparent sub-genres, and a lot of them seem almost made up and sound the same to me. I couldn't pinpoint what is generally considered a doom/stoner/grind/black/sludge metal artist. If it's something I like then I'll listen. Simple. Classification just isn't my thing.

I know music fans can often get quite snobby and precious about these sort of things though, and by saying this, I probably already have a metaphorical bullseye on my back.

Not from me. It won't fit, your back is too covered in film bullseye's due to your dodgy tastes.

Same here.

When it comes to "musical genres", "System Of A Down" are my favourite. Their style's so unique, I really wouldn't want to classify them.

I love the Prodigy, even now, 16 years later they're still the best band I've ever seen live, Maiden came a close second 2 years ago though
