It will depend greatly on what films you are into, but here is a short list of my favourite Criterion BD releases:

12 Angry Men
Branded to Kill
Hausu
The Killing
Kiss Me Deadly
The Lady Vanishes
The Night of the Hunter
The Phantom Carriage
Repulsion
Rosemary's Baby
Shock Corridor
Solaris

I'm still going for the dvd option when a new Criterion release I'm interested in comes out. Can't bring myself to spend that much on a single Blu Ray disc . . .

I'll buy a few on offer at 20 USD but I'm reluctant to pay full whack, although this is very tempting:

Amazon.com: The Qatsi Trilogy (Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]: Godfrey Reggio: Movies & TV

Badlands is a must - watched it last night for the first time in a long time. Picture is fantastic, a great creepy soundtrack, cool cover, 2 amazing lead performances, Warren Oates and a Malick cameo (I was not aware of this). The documentary is first class and there's a doc about the real life murders. Perfect.

Essentials for me

Night of the Hunter (the best blu ray yet released IMO)
The Seven Samurai (second best)
The Royal Tennenbaums/Rushmore
Rosemary's Baby/Repulsion
Videodrome

Can't wait

The Ice Storm
Seconds (fell off my seat when I heard this)

Latest orders

Fish Tank
In the Realm of the Senses

It is the crack cocaine of film collecting

Badlands is a wonderful blu ray.

I'm really looking forward to the Rossellini/Bergman set that was just announced recently.

A certain Michael Mann eighties horror flick would be most welcome.
