A shame, really, because otherwise this series would be a "must have" for many collectors around the globe. Then again, with limitations for releases ranging from 2000-3000 only, it's hardly enough to satisfy all the blood-craving fans in the German language territory.

For me, that kinds increases the appeal of the editions. Just knowing that GROTESQUE is sometimes sold over 100 Euro makes it feel like a REAL limited, special edition.

I know what you mean (and I have that one too) yet I wouldn't have minded additional English subs- as I don't have any German speaking AND horror-watching pals over here far up north in Finland to view those neat editions with.

I know what you mean as well - but since a lbel has even given me instructions on how to make subtitles for a DVD release I know how long that takes and therefore how expensive that is ... so actually, it's kind of a miracle that they even go through the trouble of making German subtitles for every release ... let alone English ones...

I did a bit of subtitling for documentaries, so I can fully sympathize

"Illusions" is certainly one of the Austiran labels I'll always keep an eye on, with their limited 3 disc release of Rob Zombie's "Halloween II" being a particular highlight for me so far.

Yup, that release was mighty fine, only one I know of that has both versions of the film. Senator Film did the same thing fo the first Zombie Halloween, with one difference: The DVDs are even in a digipak rather than a simple Keep Case - looks just a tad bit more awesome, if you ask me.

Agreed
It's nice to have the varying cuts of a movie united in one release (plus some extras).
Hasn't really happened THAT often as far as "modern horror" flicks are concerned, at least regarding R2 releases.
Another fine example are the limited "book editions" of the "Saw" series released by "Kinowelt".

Oh yeah, those are fine - I could kick myself in the balls for selling those when I went Blu ... part 1 and 3 especially have amassed nice collector's value and the series really does look awesome in that kind of packaging.

P.S.: There are more Mediabooks like that in Germany, even BATTLE ROYALE will get one in the future from Capelight - they've already released The Fall, Fanboys, Boondock Saints and others as Mediabooks (DVD+Blu)
