Are you interested, Demdike?

Yeah, It'll be interesting to see how the cock fighting fares this time. All depends if they can get any info on how the footage was obtained, i.e. If it was staged specifically for the film.

I'd be interested to know how a new to this country dvd such as Absurd would sell in comparison to the blu-ray.

Probably sell more lol. And if it was sold in Asda, probably one of their biggest sellers.

I think most internet-savvy horror fans would have already imported the US DVD (although that in itself was marketed very poorly - crap cover art with the alternative 'Horrible' title on the front meaning that it may have flew under the radar of a fair few people), and if not most will be holding out for the Blu.

I guess it depends how it's marketed/distributed within HMV. If the DVD is cheap, well-stocked and exposure / shelf frontage is good then I've no doubt it will outsell the Blu. Bury two high priced copies in the horror section in each branch and you'll be lucky to sell both in a year.

The problem Absurd had for me is that it was on the Mya label who were notoriously shite most of the time. That's why i never bothered with it.

Yeah, Mya certainly had a less than squeaky-clean rep. They released some great titles, but their prints were sometimes a little ropey and the question as to whether some of the titles they released were 100% legal was also called into dispute at times. They were often pricey (at the time) too, for DVDs.

I have a few of their releases and Absurd was decent-ish from what I recall (I'm certainly no expert though).
