I'm spending the night catching up on my 88 releases before Ironmaster and 2019 arrive, Hide and Shriek will be getting played tomorrow hopefully.
Prozzie has to be the worst transfer 88 has used so far, so much weird magenta colouring during some of the night scenes. It's not scanner noise l think it's just the source material they had access to. The film itself is actually more enjoyable than was expecting, it's very odd but Suzanne Love's London accent is actually not bad. I'm glad it's not the posh London accent so many actors and directors seem to go for.
The First Power so far is pretty good....

" NEW ANNOUNCEMENT!

Slasher cinema is all too often seen as a mainstay of the 1980s but the fact is that, come the turn of a new decade, plenty of fresh teen-kill titles were being produced and few are more ferocious than HAPPY HELL NIGHT! One of the trendsetting terror titles in bridging the gap between the grindhouse excess of the eighties and the VHS-era insanity of the early nineties, HAPPY HELL NIGHT is a fright-flick that has the cinematic quality of a highbrow hack and stab slice and dicer and the fast-paced sex 'n' violence sensibility of a video cassette cut 'em up. Released in 1992 to appreciative audiences who believed the bloodshed of the FRIDAY THE 13TH era had long since passed, this is a claustrophobic tale of supernatural stabbings in an old deserted asylum - and when some youngsters begin bothering this dusty place of the past they are understandably upset to find out that it houses a hysterical lunatic that does not intend to retire his limb-lopping ambitions anytime soon! Rarely seen in a quality deserving of its colourful carnage, and featuring the thespian talents of Sam Rockwell (MOON/ IRON MAN 2), HAPPY HELL NIGHT has finally been unleashed in the UK from 88 Films in a plasma-perfect HD restoration!

(Comes with an exclusive collector's booklet from Calum Waddell and more tbc)"

I was just about to post the news about Happy Hell Night! Like most of the Slasher Classics line it's one I've never seen so I look forward to viewing it.

Tonight's viewing will be Hide and Go Shriek possibly followed by Pieces or Ironmaster or 2019. Decisions decisions....

Went to the 88 Films website and ordered:
  • Masked Avengers (#08 in the 88 Asia Collection)
  • Return to Horror High (#25 in the Slasher Classics Collection)
  • Delirium (#29 in the Italian Collection)
  • Meridian

I also used some of my Skull Points for a £15 discount code. I won't receive them until shortly after the last one is released, but I'm not in a rush as I don't have a shortage of things to watch and uni work to do.

Return To Horror High is scraping the barrel somewhat is it not?
I understand completely about the completion angle ... but tis a bit cheeky of 88.
IMHO.

Once more 88 put out another code red title. In fairness I ended up buying CR's blastfighter and it appeared to be a minor upgrade on 88's. Given the price differences 88 are more appealing.

I wish that 88 Films color corrected their transfers, as the Code Red and Severin always looks better on that front.

I don't know why 88 Films don't bother with this?
Their Italian transfers very often have a yellowish color tone to them.
