"24th June - Star Time Henry Pinkle (Michael St. Gerard) lives for television. This world of make-believe consumes his every waking moment. But when his favorite show is canceled, Henry is driven over the edge and decides to commit suicide. Then he meets Sam Bones, a mysterious agent who promises Henry happiness and stardom – if he follows his instructions, engulfing Henry in an increasingly downward spiral of brutality and murder… Hailed by The LA Times as “an impressively ambitious and potent first feature,” Alexander Cassini’s STAR TIME is an angst-ridden study of violent psychosis and media obsession, pronounced by surrealist visuals and gory violence. Co-starring John P. Ryan (IT’S ALIVE) and Maureen Teefy (FAME), 88 Films presents this unique art-house horror film on Blu-ray, newly restored from its original 35mm camera negative and presented in its never-before-on-home-video original director’s cut. Confirmed Special Features: • Newly scanned and restored in 2k from 35mm original camera negative • Commentary track with director Alexander Cassini • “Shooting Star Time” – interview with Cinematographer Fernando Argüelles • “The Great Performance” – a short film by Alexander Cassini • Original theatrical trailer • Reversible cover artwork • English SDH subtitles""

"24th June - Pets Teenage Runaway Bonnie (Candice Rialson) has escaped the clutches of her controlling brother, only to become immediately embroiled in a twisted web of sexual manipulation. Initially convinced to aid in a carjacking, Bonnie is then taken in by a lecherous lesbian artist who hopes to groom her into a sapphic lover, only to have her plans thwarted by the perverse advances of a local gallery owner whose bizarre proclivities include the keeping of an unusual assortment of ‘pets.’ A truly unparalleled exploitation film viewing experience, Raphael Nussbaum’s PETS veers between moments of overwrought melodrama and jarring bouts of unhinged sleaze. Co-starring Ed Bishop (TV’s UFO), Joan Blackman (BLUE HAWAII), and Mike Cartel (RUNAWAY NIGHTMARE), and adapted from Nussbaum’s own stage play, 88 Films presents this drive-in classic newly restored from rare 35mm elements and on Blu-ray for the very first time. Confirmed Special Features • Newly scanned and restored in 2k from multiple 35mm vault elements • “Brotherly Love” – an interview with Mike Cartel, actor and production assistant • Alternate “One Night Stand” title sequence • Archival still gallery • Trailer • Reversible cover • English SDH subtitles"

That's cool, i really like Eliminators, cheesily entertaining, i've got a copy on dvd but would upgrade when the price drops. Both the others i am interested in, seen them released in the US but wasn't going to pay silly money for them.

Never even heard of star time. Like the artwork for the anaconda set. I'll wait until i see what the special features are before i consider buying though. I mean if the new features is a critic trying to analyze why the films are so bad I'll give a pass but I'm sure Dwight little will be willing to give a retrospective talk on the second one since he's been happy to do interviews for the other horror films he's done. I wonder if this is going to become a regular thing of releasing sony 90's films and their direct to vid sequels? the 2 urban legend films got special edition treatment from scream factory, wouldn't say no to a set of them from 88 (would save me a lot of cash, plus i still really fancy Alicia Witt) Sony have/had uk rights to Fortress and then there's that horrible horrible horrible sequel. There's Sniper and i recall the third one being ok because of Tom berenger's performance. Didn't columbia also do the I know what you did last summer films? Am I missing any others out? |

Star Time is fantastic. I'd recommend anyone who hasn't seen it to give it a shot - especially if you're into off-the-wall psychological slasher / serial killer films.

BizarreEye reviewed it a few weeks ago.... "Star Time (1992) A confused misfit becomes suicidal when his favorite TV show is cancelled. An agent promises to make him a TV star if he kills certain people, so he becomes 'The Baby Mask Killer'. There is a Videodrome-vibe which permeates this one and it is chock full of industrial-grue and manic decay, so naturally I bought into it in a big way. A real surprise. 76/100" Sounds interesting to me.
