'Incendies' (2010) - Limited Edition (4K UHD / Blu-ray combo) pre-order available from 101 Films direct - UK$24.99

Release date: August 12

"101 Films presents acclaimed drama Incendies (2010), the breakthrough film from director Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, Dune), released on 4K UHD for the first time. Before he emerged as one of Hollywood?s biggest names, Villeneuve adapted this harrowing story of Canadian twins who travel to an unnamed country in the Middle East with a history of religious conflict. Villeneuve?s powerful and heartbreaking tale is presented here from a new 4K master, supervised and approved by the director himself.

A mother's dying wish creates a painful puzzle her children are forced to solve. At the reading of their mother's will, twins Jeanne and Simon are given instructions to locate the father they believed was dead and the brother neither knew existed. They travel to the Middle East to piece together the story of the woman who brought them into the world, only to make a shocking discovery."

Special Features:
  • Remembering The Ashes: Incendies Through Their Eyes
  • Commentary with Denis Villeneuve
  • Interview with Denis Villeneuve
  • Q&A with director Denis Villeneuve
  • Limited edition booklet includes: 'The Empathy and Alchemy of Denis Villeneuve' by Rich Johnson, 'Symphony for the Devil: Finding the Darkness of Denis Villeneuve's Incendies' by James Mottram and printed Q&A with director Denis Villeneuve from Venice 2010

I'm a big fan of Villeneuve's work and haven't seen Incendies, so it's a definite preorder for me.

It's going to be a double pack isn't it... I've never seen the sequel is it in any good? The first one is OK, but it's one of those were not a lot happens, but I like the little sister reading Playboy

Is this the one where they just use stacks of footage from the original to pad out the sequel?

You might be thinking of Silent Night Deadly Night, but possibly this as well

I looked it up on IMDB, it does feature some footage from the original, the sequel follows the little sister 3 years later so it's probably a bit of 'previously...' kind of stuff

The 2nd one looks kind of ridiculous with the killer sporting a red electric guitar with a massive drill on the end I'm looking forward to it

I haven't seen the second film. I like the first one though. It features heavily on the Going to Pieces doc as does director Amy Holden Jones being the only woman to direct a slasher film at the time.

It's strange that the third hasn't been submitted as well because it makes sense to me to release them as a trilogy.

I've only seen the first two films and they are very watchable slasher movies, though far from great entries in the subgenre.
