What I find almost just as annoying as bad art is what I call spoiler art which is all over the packaging of re-releases of vintage films. Take The Howling above as an example - the transformation and the werewolf design are the highlights of the film. They shouldn't be emblazoned all over the box. The original poster designers clearly knew this! I know most people buying already know what to expect from the film but I can't help feeling the art of subtlety and actually properly teasing the viewer has gone out of the window for some companies. |
