Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires is up at £12.99 on Amazon.

You really can't quibble at that price.

The artwork text is now correct too.

I ordered it direct from Signal One for the same price and free postage, will hopefully get it a bit earlier than release day as well

There isn'y even the "story of" narrated by Peter Cushing that appears on the Anchor Bay release (which I'm still hanging on to). I can't find any info about any remastering of this film. Who did it? From what? It's odd that anyone, today, would make such a bare bones release of a Hammer film.

These are the extras on the Scream Factory release:

NEW 2K Scan Of The Original Film Elements
NEW Audio Commentary With Author/Film Historian Bruce G. Hallenbeck
NEW When Hammer Met Shaw – An Interview With Actor David Chiang
NEW Kung Fear – An Interview With Hong Kong Film Expert Rick Baker
Alternate U.S. Theatrical Version – The 7 Brothers Meet Dracula (In HD With Some Standard Definition Inserts)
Theatrical Trailers
TV Spot
Still Gallery

I expect the transfer will be the same but I expect Hammer fans will feel the extras are disappointing in comparison.

I've been waiting for so long to buy the Scream Factory edition that I had forgotten about it. Still too expensive to order from the US, but hopefully one day it'll show up on our part of the world. Worth waiting for, though.

I think everyone's different Dem. Some, like yourself, won't be bothered. Others, will feel the UK has been short-changed.

Like it or not extras have become a selling point and I can't help thinking that Signal One are not maximising the potential of their release by not including any.

Anyway, it's pointless wondering why... it's just a choice I'd have preferred not to ponder...

I know next to nothing about Hong Kong movies and the Shaw Brothers, so the commentary may be interesting. The rest is meh. I will never watch the US version, like I never watched any other cut/less nudity/less gore or shorter version ever in any DVD/BR, given the option

What people don't seem to realise is they aren't charging you for extras.

You're paying £12.99 for the film. That's it.

If people want extras go and get the Shout Factory release, spend your thirty quid and be happy.

Buying Shout Factory discs is a very expensive pastime for us in Europe and I do it rarely. However when a film is coming out at a low price point and it's a gap in my library then I'm buying it for the movie first and foremost. The artwork is nice as well which is a good thing
