I keep meaning to pick up the Studio Canal version of Fright, although I've never seen it, and don't think I've seen anyone mention it here. Is it recommended?

It's excellent. It's set in what amounts to an old dark house and also has slasher elements galore and a proper menacing performance from Ian Bannen.

Without checking i'd guess it was maybe the first film in the 'lone baby sitter against a madman' genre

Along with And Soon the Darkness it was the first StudioCanal Blu i went after following my turn to the HD dark side.

I can't recommend both films highly enough.
