Default The Vipco Thread

What are your favourite titles on this label? (Video or DVD).

Mine are

Cannibal Holocaust (although I now have the uncut, 2 disc DVD)
The Beyond
Vault of Horror
City of the Living Dead!!
Cannibal Ferox
Asylum
The Burning (Which I have replaced with the new Region 1 DVD)

Lots of good ones, but also some duds including Nostril Picker , Case of the Bloody Iris, God Told Me To, Death Trap...

The Bogey Man
Shogun Assassin
(beware Vipco's Widescreen version which reduces Samurai warriors into Weebles)
The Slayer
Zombie Creeping Flesh
The Zombie Dead
(aka Burial Ground)
(the above 2 are guilty pleasures of mine)
The Last Hunter
The Deadly Spawn
(great film, ghastly print, get the R1 release)

Night Of The Demon is another class film but Vipco's DVD reissue of the cut video version was atrocious, considering it would have passed uncut even then. This one NEEDS a Shameless release.

"The Slayer" is still very much underrepresentated...on R2 anyway....so that one would be great!

They appear every now and then as second hand offers in Helsinki's import shops.
Sadly missed out on "The Slayer", but a hold of the unbelievably messy presentation that is "Death Screams".

Default Favourite VIPCO

I have the VHS version of "The Burning" it's the Strong Uncut Version which was released in europe in the 1990's.. It comes in the same packaging as the UK release (the one with the BBFC info on the back) but with a sticker on the front stating strong uncut version

The current Blackhorse DVD of The Burning is exactly the same print as the 2002 uncut Vipco release.

True. As is their release of Cannibal Holocaust idental to VIPCO's first pan an scan version and lacks the superior quality of the WS 2nd VIPCO version.

Vince, did they ever release Mountain of the Cannibal god or House by the edge by the cemetary.?
I Just wondered if they submitted House in VIPCO's Extreme version or uncut.?

I presume you mean House By The Cemetery and House On The Edge Of The Park.

None of these have yet been submitted to the BBFC by the look of things. Cannibal God was pencilled in on Amazon for an August release by Blackhorse but it doesn't seem to have happened. No mention at all of any Blackhorse releases of the other two.

Given Blackhorse's past track record they'd simply resubmit the existing Vipco prints alas. Cemetery would pass uncut now. Cannibal God would receive the same cuts. Edge Of The Park would see some previous cuts restored but would definitely still receive BBFC edits (though nowhere near 11 mins).
