Mind how Vipco always had the same black artwork in the early 2000s? It was catchy, though. Seeing statements such as "PREVIOUSLY BANNED" really got ya suckered in!

Their catalogue of titles was second to none.
Unfortunately their care to attention and detail WAS none.

Watch the superb documentary on Vingegar Syndrome's SPOOKIES Blu Ray.
nosferatu42 and Wolfcrone like this.

So ive been trying to find a bit more information on the 'Strong Uncut Version' Stickers that i have on some of my Vipco Tapes. I remember picking them up somewhere in europe many, many years ago but was wondering what the deal is with them. Everything else about the cases is the same as the normal releases however, when ive checked the play back they do appear to be longer versions. Anyone know what the deal is?

Back in the 80's, a number of Vipco titles were released in two versions - the [cut] cinema version and the [uncut] strong versions

For instance, the cinema version of 'Zombie Flesh Eaters' was missing parts of the eyeball scene and zombies feasting on intestines, while the strong version included these scenes

Hey, thanks for the info
Were the cases exactly the same for these? On the back in the black box it still talks about being cut but then the stickers just mark it is a STRONG UNCUT VERSION.

Some dealers displayed the 'cut box' on their shelves, whilst supplying the uncut tape to renters.

I bought the book VIDEO NASTY MAYHEM THE INSIDE STORY OF VIPCO.

Started reading it last night and got a strange feeling of deja vu.
On rewatching the Vipco story 2 hour doc on VS' Spookies bd,it seems the passages from the doc have been lifted wholesale (Not Gold and sons!) from the doc.
Splitting up these anecdotes are the various sub genres which Vipco released.
Bit of a bummer really as the author James Simpson cleary is a Vipco fanatic.
His reviews and inclusions of the bumf Vipco printed on the back of their sleeves to secure a sale, are, however worth the price alone and it's nice to see those outrageous cover pics and taglines again which reeled in punters (myself included) hook, line and sinker.

Just one wee glaring mistake James....Vipco DID release SHOCK WAVES (Page 109) and the quality WAS worse than their tape release!
It was one of the first DVDs I bought.....

So it wasn't just me that felt their release of Shockwaves was shite.
