This is just me but to be honest i think that european movies are easier to sell then the american ones. When i look at my Severin and Blue Underground collection i can see that the majority of them are... italian.

Some of my favourite Code Red titles are the european ones like Beyond the Door and Cut-Throats Nine for example.

Well, well, the best of luck to you guys at Code Red!

I honestly believe that in many cases that it's not that people don't want to buy your releases, but they genuinely have to count pennies and can't afford to. Of course, all this creates a hazardous environment in which, I imagine, downloading spikes, as people penny-pinch. It's not something I do, but I can certainly see the recession driving piracy at the moment. I will only make do with genuine copies and, if I can't afford something, I go without. Simple as.

Like I say, I don't think it's that fans don't want to support your endeavours, but people's personal financial situations just doesn't allow them to do so at this moment in time. Let's hope the world's governments stop dicking around and sort out the global economy so we can all get back up on our feet again - and buying lovely DVDs and BDs once more!
I agree completely. I would dearly love to buy every Code Red release, but sadly I just don't have the funds. And the same goes for a lot of other labels as well.

One Best Buy I used to go into was like a DVD library! Rows and rows of one section probably the size of your average HMV main floor.

Circuit City and Borders went out of business, Best Buy devoted more space to Blu-Ray, B & N shrank their sections and the only nationwide chain that carries a lot still is FYE, though they tend to charge full RRP. By the time I left last year, other than at FYE, I hadn't seen a specialist tile in Best Buy or B & N (other than Criterion) since about 2008/2009.

HMV actually carries more here and we all know how good and cheap they are! Seriously, if you want to buy a Code Red or even a BU, Synapse or Severin on title DVD the only way to go in the U.S. is online now in general.
Interesting and a, well, bit sad reply really. Cheers Blob.

actually CTN was from the US distributor, and BTD was from Italians but the dvd is still in the red ink.

Italian still think "American are rich" and want $10,000.00+ and Italian lab can get $7,000.00 to do a new transfer. US Lab is alot cheaper almost by 70% less.

I know Lustig does new transfer, but Severin I believe take what they have. They sell 6 times more than I do, so they can play with these type of things. Look at CHOKE CANYON...I paid $10,000 and sold 548 copies for $6.50 each.

I understand money is tight, but some large amount of horror fans is buying large volume of other label compare to my 30+ titles release I did this year. I saw the sales barcode scan and code red stuff is doing 80% less than a normal indie cult label.

One OutofPrint vhs collector told me that code red dvd product will be more rare than most vhs since only 600 is out there.

Another guy even said "why don't you put it all in storage and sell them 5 years from now". LOL.

Hi Codered! Thanks for registering on here and answering questions

I'll be upfront with you, I've only just been made aware of the Code Red label and it was through posters on this site recommending titles, and the wait for someone to release Night of the Demon (thank you so much for releasing that strangle title ). I've liked the titles I've bought, so far and hope to support the label more in future. It's disheartening reading your posts about sales and figures. I hope things improve.

There is one issue that I can see. Continuing on from what Daemonia said earlier and the amount of expendable income that's generally around at the moment, that is a lot of titles. I know personally I have no chance of keeping up anywhere near that. I've bought 4 CR releases this year and there are more I'd like but there's also other stuff I want to buy as well. I haven't even managed to grab Night of the Demon yet. I fully understand that you have to try and recoup costs probably as quickly as possible but fighting against various issues like a flagging world economy and flagging DVD market is a tough battle.
