A bit of a blow, as it means they will be no longer be available from the reliable, customs free Diabolik. Whilst I expect the price point to be the same, shipping will likely be more than what Diabolik charge but also now with the added issue of SAE not being customs friendly.

I guess I'm going to have to re-evaluate my priorities when deciding whether to buy Scorpion's limited discs... a shame as they are one of the main indie distributors worth supporting.
That's a strange decision to give them to SAE exclusively.

I just sent an email to diabolikdvd yesterday, asking if they're gonna get Messiah of Evil or A Candle for the Devil in stock. They said they're out of Messiah of Evil and they have no news about A Candle for the Devil. Didn't mention anything about this news.

But as Stephen already said, SAE's been very customs friendly. I've ordered there maaaany times and they've always marked the value to $15 if I remember correctly.

Yes, it is a little strange although not totally unexpected.

Scorpion had opened up a big cartel store like Code Red, but as I understand it there are some limitations in the software with what you can do with big cartel, plus I'm not sure how big the scope of Walt's operation was in reference to posting out the orders he was getting (and he'd locked out international customers too like Bill).

Diabolik was working well for them to an extent, but I think they're only a two man operation themselves, and struggled a little in terms of distributing when they received their first batch of limited edition Blus last year. I think SAE have a few more resources behind them, plus may have even offered Walt a better deal on his titles - who knows.

So, every purely Scorpion distributed title will now be handled by SAE exclusively for the foreseeable future. This means that Diabolik will not be getting A Candle for the Devil or Stripped to Kill now. This won't affect any of the Kino/Scorpion joint ventures which will still be available from Amazon etc.

Scorpion have totally gone off my radar. I never even think about the stuff they release anymore. Their website seems stuck in 2010.

I see, well let's hope it's gonna work better with SAE and it's gonna be more clear when and what will be in stock. I'm tired of checking Diabolikdvd several times everyday, hoping to see one of those titles to apper.

I'm definitely up for Stripped To Kill.

They're still releasing some great titles - plus their joint deals with Kino seem to have been quite beneficial too.

Which titles do you refer to.?

I have Stripped to Kill in my wishlist but that's it. I used to buy quite a few of theirs.

Still got Body Melt and American Nightmare in my to watch pile.

The Kino titles or the Scorpion self distributed titles?

I confess that I don't own many of the Kino joint titles (just The Girl Hunters so far), but have a fair few in my wish-list including: At the Earth's Core, Bloody Mama, Cult of the Damned, The First Power, Jennifer, The Land that Time Forgot, Planet of the Vampires, Seizure, Sugar Hill, To All a Goodnight, and Wicked Lady.

As for the Scorpion only titles, I own: Day of the Animals, Death Ship, Don't Answer the Phone, Flavia the Heretic, Girly, Harlequin, The House on Sorority Row, The Monster Club, Mortuary, Tower of Evil and The Unseen.

I want to pick up Screamers and Sorority House Massacre at some point as well as A Candle for the Devil and Stripped to Kill (the latter two of which will only be available via SAE now).

I also have a few Scorpion DVD titles, most of which are under the Katarina's Nightmare Theater banner before their deal with Alternative Distribution Alliance ended and they started self-releasing limited editions.

NEVER.

I always slip them a wee note....

This is actually fine by me.

Their stuff arrives just as quick as it does from Diabolik.

My fright night/The other order arrived quickly and customs friendly.
