Third window are a great little firm. I know there's going to be grumbling but like secondrun I'm happy for anything that keeps them going.

The upshot of Third Window now been under Arrows wing could be that Arrow stop focusing on Eastern cinema so much and get back to Italian, American and British cinema instead.

They are and still will be seperate companies. My understanding is this is about distribution, which was the major problem in the first place that their distributors kept falling through.

Third window tend to focus on newer titles, though they have released some of Takeshi Kitano's back catalogue. Personally I'm a little sick of all the major distribution companies releasing the same Italian titles over and over. I prefer a little something for everyone and there's plenty of people who want the cult Japanese / Chinese / Korean titles.

Arrow's niche in the Asian market is firmly in the vintage cinema of Toho and Nikkatsu so I can't see this merger having much to do with that really as Third Window release current stuff and I'm sure Arrow Video will continue to release the vintage stuff. There would however be a little conflict of interest on the Academy side of things though.
