NEW UK TITLE: The Silence of the Lambs (1991) - Pre-order available from Arrow Films direct for Limited Edition Blu-Ray - UK$25:00, Limited Edition 4K UHD - UK$30:00 or Arrow Store Exclusive Limited Edition 4K UHD - UK$30:00 Release date: August 26 "Following an early career directing low-budget exploitation movies for producer Roger Corman, by the 1990s, Jonathan Demme was known best for making quirky comedies (Something Wild, Married to the Mob) and music documentaries (Stop Making Sense) - that is, until he signed on to adapt Thomas Harris' best-selling thriller The Silence of the Lambs. The resulting film - a sombre, enthralling nightmare vision of psychopathology - became a five-time Academy Award winner and made cannibal mastermind Hannibal Lecter a household name. FBI agent Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster, The Accused) races against time to stop a serial killer, nicknamed "Buffalo Bill" (Ted Levine, Heat), before he kills again. To solve the case, she risks her own sanity by consulting with malevolent psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins, Nixon). A master manipulator, the sinister Dr Lecter offers crucial information that may be key to unlocking the killer's identity - but at a price. Clarice must open primal events from her past to Lecter's menacing curiosity and confront the trauma that fuels her search for justice. A deeply disturbing examination of human evil, The Silence of the Lambs changed the face of the serial killer genre and remains a highly influential, landmark classic of mystery, suspense and psychological horror." At Westerburg High School, an elite clique of snobby girls known as "Heathers" reign supreme. Smart and popular, Veronica (Winona Ryder, Stranger Things) is a reluctant member of the gang and disapproves of the other girls' cruel behaviour. When Veronica and her mysterious new boyfriend, JD (Christian Slater, True Romance), play a trick on the clique leader, Heather Chandler (Kim Walker), and accidentally poison her, they make it appear a suicide. But it soon becomes clear to Veronica that JD is a sociopath intent on vengefully killing the school's popular students. She races to stop him, clashing with the clique's new leader, Heather Duke (Shannen Doherty), and leading to an explosive final confrontation with her troubled former lover. Directed by Michael Lehmann, Heathers pushed the teen comedy into dark and nightmarish territory and is distinguished by the career defining central performances of its stars Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. The film is presented here on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray alongside a wealth of extra material providing insight into the making of this hilarious and shocking film." 4K ULTRA HD BLU-RAY LIMITED EDITION CONTENTS

NEW UK TITLE: Desperado (1995) - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition SteelBook 4K UHD + Blu-ray pre-order available here - UK$34.99 Release date: August 26 "He came back to settle the score with someone. Anyone. EVERYONE. After turning the independent film world upside-down with his inventive microbudget debut, writer-director Robert Rodriguez continued the myth of the mysterious Mariachi in the follow-up Desperado, armed with all the explosive pyrotechnics that Hollywood studio money can buy! A shadowy figure stalks the Mexican underworld, travelling from town to town with only a guitar case in hand; however, what El Mariachi (Antonio Banderas) has on his mind isn't music, but merciless vengeance. With enough bullets up his sleeves for every bandito in his path, the guitar-playing gunslinger has his sights firmly set on taking down a powerful drug lord (Joaquim de Almeida), but only the love of a local bookstore owner (Salma Hayek) will help the Mariachi get out of town alive. With a rogues' gallery of memorable supporting turns from the likes of Danny Trejo, Steve Buscemi, Cheech Marin and Quentin Tarantino, Rodriguez's instant action classic blends American indie cool and Hong Kong hyperkineticism with a Latino flavor firmly the director's own." I already have the Lecter trilogy on Blu so won't be rushing out for Silence of the Lambs however i wouldn't mind replacing the original Blu with a better restoration so a standard edition in a sale in a couple of years would be okay. Meanwhile i like all the Mariachi films but replacing the dvd's i have isn't a priority, especially at fifty quid. |

It's a pretty weak month in my opinion, I will be buying Silence of the Lambs 4k though, it's one of my favourites. I can't believe Buttgereit is getting another box set... the licenses must be near to expiring.
