Default New Arrow Announcements...

The only steelbook I'll get is Porky's, and Pit & The Pendulum if it has different art thand the standard. Never get them if they have the same art as the standard edition.

I know the art is similar but I really like the Theater of blood one as well...

I'll be picking up: Sisters, Koyaanisqatsi+Powaqqatsi, Theatre of Blood (Steelbook), The Beast Within (horrible art!), Pit and the Pendulum (Steelbook), L'Assassino, Porky's, The Complete Dr Phibes, Milano Calibro 9, The 'Burbs (Steelbook).

I'm still unsure on The Walerian Borowczyk Collection. It's at the reduced pre-order price of £64.99 until April the 30th. Not sure it's my type of thing, to be honest.

Yeah I won't bother with Theatre Of Blood steelbook. Surprising choice for the reverse of the standard edition. You would've expected them to use the more recognizable poster. I like it though.

When I started work on Arrow's The Night of the Hunter and realised that my budget would only stretch to a single-disc release, I initially thought "What's the point? Won't people just import the two-disc Criterion?" - but this ignores several points, namely:

1. The Criterion is Region A, and the overwhelming majority of UK-based Blu-ray users are locked to Region B.
2. The Criterion is an expensive premium edition, retailing at $49.99 RRP. True, you can certainly get it for less, but you're unlikely to be able to get it brand new for under £20 inc. shipping...
3. ...which means that you're playing the Customs lottery and might well end up spending a fair bit more!

Whereas you should be able to pick the Arrow edition up for half that, and while the Criterion is unquestionably the superior package, the Arrow is considerably better than merely half as good! (Crucially, it's based on the same UCLA restoration, and also has that amazing 159-minute "making-of" documentary).

In other words, it was absolutely worth doing.
This may come off as a little ass kissey but a job well done with Night of the Hunter in my opinion. I enjoy criterions discs but they are dear and I always try to buy British with my releases.

I'm getting Sisters, Porky's, The Beast Within and Milano Calibro if that's an improvement over the Raro disc.

I do too, which is why I tend to hold of on a lot of Scream's releases due to them sharing a lot of titles with Arrow and Second Sight. Also, I do try and buy MoC and BFI over Criterion (I will be getting the BFI release of Eyes Without a Face and the MoC releases of Ace in the Hole and Harold and Maude). However, the Arrow release of Night of the Hunter came a little too late for me as I'd already purchased the Criterion release a fair while before Arrow announced their version - despite the high cost it was a film I love and I had to have it.

Theatre of blood is a fun film, Caliber 9 is a great film that i already own. The rest i either havent heard of, dont like or think arent worth the money. So no purchases from myself on this occasion sadly.

Dr Phibes will be a digipack. May hold off and order that one from Amazon. Not sure if Arrow are still sending those in jiffy bags. I know a lot of people who got bashed TCM2 direct from Arrow due to the packaging.
