Yes, but it's a barebones release with fairly standard picture and sound.

With a film being in the public domain, I'd think any company wouldn't want to spend money restoring something for blu-ray and then see any Tom, Dick or Harry rip the film from the disc and use it to release their own blu-ray.

Does that not apply to MOC's Nosferatu blu though?

Well I don't know if it's a good point or not to be honest Rik. I always thought Nosferatu was in the PD but I might be wrong. Also I don't think Eureka actually did the restoration work themselves so I suppose they had less to risk given I think the actual HD restoration is the most expensive part.

It's definitely PD, as is the Lon Chaney Phantom of the Opera (which also has a couple of stunning BD releases).

I think the restored Nosferatu isn't in the public domain though. I could be wrong. And if it is, then yes, you could rip the film from the MOC disc, and sell it yourself.

The restored print of Nosferatu is owned by The Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau Foundation (or it was done for them), if I'm not mistaken.

How do official restorations work then? If Arrow or anyone else for that matter shelled out on a proper restoration for NOTLD then would that restored print be copyrighted or pd?
