I'm sure that news will delight some, however these two titles do absolutely nothing for me.

Me neither, lost interest in pretty much everything to do with Arrow these days, 88 Films seem to be putting out more of the stuff I'm interested in lately

One of the things I love about Arrow is that instead of sticking to a narrow range of "safe" titles, they're not at all afraid of striking out into previously uncharted waters.

I haven't seen either of the new titles that they've just announced and don't know any more about them than is printed above, but given that it's unlikely they'd have cleared US and UK rights (which don't come cheap, especially where Japanese titles are concerned) and commissioned brand new subtitles, I'm more than happy to believe that they're hitherto undiscovered gems.

And of course this is one of the aims of the whole Arrow Video USA project in the first place - by increasing the size of the market, it'll be easier for Arrow to justify going to the expense of doing original scans of film elements, and therefore bring more films back that haven't had a proper release since they originally opened (and sometimes not even then: the last time I saw Dr Jekyll in 35mm it was cut to ribbons).

Have to agree as well, Japanese cinema like Westerns does nothing for me.

Japanese isn't a genre, how can you write-off the entire film output of a country :S

Quite easily I just don't like Japanese cinema as a whole. The only Japanese films I liked were The Ring and Battle Royale, I struggle with Japanese cinema it just doesn't do it for me.

There are plenty of great Japanese films out there, and having liked The Ring and Battle Royale, I'm sure there are other films you'd like. You may just need to explore some more. I can understand from experience though that sometimes when you come a cross a chain of stinkers it does tend to put you off wanting to dig any deeper somewhat.

As for the new announcements, colour me interested. I'm a fan Nikkatsu and Pinku films from this era (notably the Female Prisoner films) but have never seen these two before. I'm certainly interested in checking both films out and the more interesting obscurities Arrow can dig up the better!

Not as obscure, but I'd love Arrow to tackle Sex and Fury and more Suzuki such as The Flower and the Angry Waves.

Watched withnail and I last night. Superb restoration and a real upgrade over previous releases.

As I really like the Female Scorpion Prisoner films, they sound like films which will interest me, so I hope they will be fairly easily available in UK.
