Just read that it's been leaked that Vinegar Syndrome will be releasing The Keep in a high definition format. If it's just regular 1080p, I hope it's region friendly (like my copy of their Argento's Trauma). I've badly wanted a hd copy of The Keep for a long time (ditto for my wife). Would import in a heartbeat.

I don?t really rate The Keep but I would probably still buy it haha. Just because it?s been so hard to come by. Even though the story (possibly due to the edit) is a bit rubbish at least the soundtrack and imagery are top notch.

It'll sell out within a day. How the heck they managed to talk michael mann into giving permission is one he'll of an achievement.....then again paramount have been in deep financial shit recently they probably just said nuts to mann and made a deal. |

Not seen The Keep since VHS days. All I remember is it being quite slow and hard to follow. Also the performances seemed quite stilted. I finished the audiobook last year and quite enjoyed that. Maybe I'll be able to follow the movie better now? I'm sure the picture upgrade will at least be a step up from the very murky VHS. |

If Vinegar Syndrome have it then there's probably a good chance one of our boutique labels will also have it in the pipeline. Second Sight's first hundred quid release i'd bet |

I'm quite sure it will sell out quickly, puts a bit of pressure on. There was an official Australian Via Vision dvd four years ago. It being posted about on this very site was where I first learnt of it. Not only does that Australian dvd have a Paramount logo upon loading up, but it even has the Paramount logo on the side of the dvd case. Would love to upgrade that.

'The Tenant' (1976) - 4K UHD / Blu-Ray combo pre-order available from Vinegar Syndrome direct - UK$34.48 "Trelkovsky, freshly arrived in Paris, is in desperate need of a place to live. After inquiring at a large apartment complex run by the brooding Monsieur Zy, he's offered the room of Simone Choule, a resident who recently attempted suicide by throwing herself out of the window. Undeterred by this macabre event, Trelkovsky is happy to move in. Shortly thereafter, he meets Stella, Simone's friend, and does his best to comfort and befriend her. Quickly integrating into Stella's bohemian social scene, Trelkovsky hopes that his life is finally turning a corner; that is, until his new neighbors begin acting strangely, making wild accusations against him, and displaying increasingly sinister and violent behaviors. As the weeks go on, Trelkovsky begins to suspect that something is very wrong in the stuffy old building and that Simone's fatal plunge might not have been her own doing... From maverick director Roman Polanski (Chinatown, Rosemary's Baby) comes one of the most unusual and unsettling studio thrillers of the 1970s: THE TENANT. Adapted from Roland Topor's cult novel, Polanski casts himself in the lead, offering a uniquely demented and outrageously funny performance, and is supported by Melvyn Douglas (The Changeling), Shelly Winters (Night of the Hunter, Lolita), and Isabelle Adjani (Possession). Featuring cinematography by two-time Oscar winner Sven Nykvist (Cries and Whispers) along with an original score by acclaimed composer Philippe Sarde (La Grande Bouffe), Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to present the 4K UHD debut of THE TENANT, newly and exclusively restored in 4K from its original camera negative and featuring a wide array of new and archival extras including an expanded interview with Polanski himself." In enfant terrible Takeshi Kitano's explosive second feature film, Masaki (Yurei Yanagi) is an unassuming gas station attendant and amateur baseball player for underdog team The Eagles.
